Awesome thread RS! Maybe we need one for how many fights Donnelly will have next season!

I love the pick! I still can't believe he fell to the 4th round! Definitely has the skill and potential of top 6 potential to replace Hejduk one day, but will have to battle with tons of other high prospects we have in our system. The next big step for him is to make Linköping, SEL team out of training camp, but it's going to be hard. If he does I do see him making Sweden's WJC team in December.

It will be intresting to see how he does, as a lack of offensive progression last year really worries me.

Didn't he drop in the draft rankings? The Avs seem to love to pick up guys who drop in the rankings. Elliott, Hishon and now Nermark, hopefully Nermark can be as good of a prospect as the first two.

Yes he did. From every major scouting source he was listed as a player going from 2nd to early 3rd round. We got him early in the 4th.

Wherever he plays next season he definitely needs more consistency.

Sorry, he actually made the under 20 team, not U-18.

Love the pick! Very surprised he didn´t go much earlier. Thought he would be the sixth swede chosen, maybe in the late 1st round or early second. He will be good.

But yeah, last summer this guy was talked about as a potential first rounder after a brilliant Ivan Hlinka tourney. Definitely has the skills to be a top 6 player.

I think people were more high on Friberg than Nermark in terms of 1st round potential. I do love Joachim's frame and skill set much more than Friberg though.

OT: I kind of find Ivan Hlinka tourney really overrated or is that just me?

Wasn't Nermark hurt last season causing him to drop in the rankings?

You guys got a very good player who went through an awkward stage, going from a boy to a man, this season, but I bet he rebounds nicely. Great pick, Congrats

It shouldn't be that hard to make the team out of training camp, considering Linköping only have 12 forwards who will be able to play with the team during the first month of the regular season. The question is if he will be able to retain is place when the team's star forwards Hlavac and Hlinka join the team in late October. He will have one month of preseason and one month of regular season to prove he belongs there though.

As for last seasons numbers it's not as bad as it might look. He stil doubled his production at the u-20 level from the previous season (not too bad for a 2-way forward who is better defensively than offensively). The top scorer on the team had just 38 points in 41 games. It should also be said that a number of his SEL games were spent on the bench so the number of games in which he actually played is lower than 12. I like what I saw when he did get to play though.

Thanks for the insight! Yeah I thought Linköping didn't really have any roster spots open, but am glad to hear that he does have 1 month of action in the big league. Could you tell me why Hlavac and Hlinka don't play for the first month of regular season?

Swedish tax rules. There is a lower tax rate for "performers" but then they are only allowed to be in the country for six months of a year.

After reading up on him I really like this pick, think we could have a good steal. His hockey sense is one of his best attributes, something you can't teach.

Swedish coach Roger Rönnberg remarks after Lake Placid.

Jocke Nermark: He had a right tough season last year, but now he showed a center game that can carry far.

How so?

That quote is broken english but it's a compliment as far as I can tell.
