I would have too. It still could happen, however.

I wonder, with Drury's injuries, would Nylander still have better wheels than Drury, even at his age?

Most likely, yes. Plus, his hands are better. His work rate might not be, though.

Rumors are Jagr had pretty good chemistry with some Mario character...is he available?

Nylander had a massive spinal injury. Few people are quite the same after that.

I, in all honesty, feel extremely sorry for you.

I feel bad enough to the point where if I were the Flyers, I'd give you a refund.

Nylander is a broken down, washed up hockey player. the man is finished. This was done for one reason. Too keep Jagr happy. If Nylander makes this team I will be stunned.

Maybe we are missing something here, like we'll pick his brain on how he set up Jagr. He can help with the youth as well on passing and play-making, maybe tips and tricks on a skating regimen, as he was known to be one of the fast ones in his day. Just like when
Paul Coffey helped Chris Therien to improve his skating and increase his skating speed.

What most people dont know is that nylander is a workhorse as he always stay on the ice when others has left the practice.

He recently had 3points when Nylanders team faced icebreakers with zetterberg, backstrom, mps, sedins etc.

I don't. If you are stupid enough to buy a flyers guerin jersey when he was here on a try-out then you deserve it.

Nyllet was my favourite player from that generation. He came from my team here in Sweden and he could do some crazy stuff when he had the puck. He also always came to play for Sweden in the World Championship after being knocked out of the Stanley Cup, even after he was snubbed for the Olympics he showed up.

I would love it if he could get one more year in the NHL so he can retire on his own terms. It's tough to see him make our team though. Even if he impresses and finds chemistry with Jagr again, that would give us Nylander-Giroux-Bričre down the middle... Our poor defenders would be in for a frustrating season where they have to cover an extra man almost every shift. Even if they still keep Schenn up on the big team, I mean he might turn into a solid two-way center but I wouldn't expect wonders from him in his rookie season.

Voracek-Nylander-Jagr
van Riemsdyk - Bričre - Giroux
Hartnell - Schenn - Simmonds
Talbot - Betts - Nödl

we would have interesting games to watch at least.

Hartnell-Schenn-Simmonds would be kind of fun to watch.

Well, if it makes you feel better, you're in the same boat as all the people that bought Richards and Carter jerseys. Of course they got good use out of theirs so while they're in first class you're stuck in the engine room shoveling coal into the furnaces.

This Summer I lost three jerseys from my game rotation -- except when I wear them the games they come in as the opposition -- and the last season and a half I lost five... Sure thought I was golden with the #18 & #17 ones.

I love tryouts. Low risk-high reward. If he kills it in training camp (unlikely, I know) then great. If he sucks, take a hike.

This would be cool as regards having one of the very last of former Hartford Whaler players (who are all veterans approaching retirement) esp. if it meant banishing Shelley to upstate NY.

Do they load up on skill, and hope for a Coyotes regular season model of Bryzgalov regarding the potential lack of effective backchecking and penalty-killing?

Party like it's 1999...

Though the 2004 team was basically a 1994 all star team.

I like this move by the organization. Low risk move and I think he will force our younger guys (specifically Schenn and Nodl) to step their game up to secure their "penciled-in" spots.

I'm also sure that some of the decision to bring him in was based on Jagr and his chemistry in NYR.

To say that Nylander will have to "impress" at camp to earn a roster spot is a bit of an understatement. He will have to look dominant, and leave no doubts about his conditioning and physical health. With a top 9 like:

Hartnell-Briere-Jagr
JVR-Giroux-Voracek
Nodl-Schenn-Simmonds

Even if he is dominant in camp I still don't see him stealing a top 2/3 center spot. I'd be more interested to see if he could play LW:

Nylander-Briere-Jagr
JVR-Giroux-Voracek
Hartnell-Schenn-Simmonds

or

Hartnell-Briere-Jagr
JVR-Giroux-Voracek
Nylander-Schenn-Simmonds

I'm sure if it were offered to him he wouldn't scoff at the idea. Nylander will probably be happy just to have an NHL job again. Not to discredit the guy, but him at center, instead of Giroux or Briere or Schenn is a ****ing pipe dream.
