It was mentioned before that those players got ranked high because Jets fans know them.

Pretty close rankings though between the fans and HF. I still think Yuen and Serville end up better than many of those ranked ahead of them, but we'll see. It'll be fun to monitor these kids as the season goes on.

I agree. I think they're just raw and unknown compared to our other prospects that have more experience. Except for Scheifele, he's easily our best prospect based on talent and upside. Let's hope that all of these prospects continue to develop

I agree that Lowry, Yuen and Serville got a tiny bit underrated.

4. Paul Postma, D 4. gregoire

16. Adam Lowry, LW
17. Brennan Serville, D
18. Jordan Samuels-Thomas, LW
19. John Albert, C
20. Zachary Yuen, D

according to HF, we have
gregoire one spot too high
postma one spot too low
machacek two spot too high
lowry eight spots too high
o'dell two spots too low
maxwell two spots too low
kulda one spot too low
yuen eight spots too high
serville four spots too high
melchiori one spot too low

and redomnd, saponari, and pettersson-wentzle are all guaranteed to go lower than hf thinks they are.

looks like to me that we're overrating prospects from this year a good bit.

I honestly think guys like Yuen, Lowry and Serville will end up better players than some of the guys HF has rated higher, but that's just my opinion.

assuming it was you that moved this post here, thanks. i didn't notice this thread for some reason

as for the new guys, it may just be that i've read a lot more on the previously drafted players than this years, but i think at most they should be a spot or two higher.

i think saponari, maxwell, and and leveille are rated too high by hf, and samuels-thomas, melchiori, and lowry should all be moved up.

John Albert signed an AHL contract only, so doesn't that mean he's a UFA and no longer Jets' property?

I think Chiarot should be on HF's list, probably in place of Albert. I also wonder if Pasquale and O'Neill should be in the lower part of the top 20.

Oh, I didn't actually know that we've got Pettersson-Wentzel, hehe. That kid is a great talent who definitely has got the potential to become a NHL-starter. Will be playing in Färjestad in the SEL the coming season and working with on the very best goalie coaches in Sweden.

Interesting.

Winnipeg Jets Top 20 Prospects [Fall 2011]

The Jets are the first team to have their top 20 done if I'm not mistaken, it was released today and Scheifele tops the list, his first rating a 7.5C.

I've submitted the changes, just have to wait for an admin to implement them.

Cheveldayoff is starting with a pretty bare cupboard, wow. It will be exciting to see what he does, but it's gonna take some time.

I'm happy to see Zazh Redmond getting some good respect from HF.

i've heard this a lot and don't particularly get it.

for one thing you have a 26 year old franchise d-man in enstrom

you also have 20 year old kane, 23 year old little, 25 year old ladd, 26 year old byfuglien, 19 year old burmistrov, 24 year old wheeler, 21 year old bogosian and now 25 year old fehr already on the team, comprising pretty much your entire core (hainsey is really the only other player that could be considered a core player).

add into that klingberg, cormier, machacek, maxwell, postma, and kulda that could all probably cut it as nhl regulars if they were put in the lineup this year, and the solid prospects in schiefele, telegin, o'dell, gregoire, and melchiori who all project to be top 6 forwards/top 4 d-men in the nhl fairly soon. finally yuen, serville, lowry, saponari, redmon, and samuels-thomas all have ok shots of having nhl careers.

i'm sorry, but in my opinion all chevaldayoff really has to do is not screw up, maybe add one more true top liner, and he'll have a contender on his hands in a few years.
