I'm glad we're participating in this. Looking forward to seeing a lot of these guys in action against a strong peer group.

What kind of lines do we think they will roll out there?

to be honest the only FA tryout I really know of is that Goodrow kid, it was kindof surprising that no team took a flier on him in the late rounds this year. He has the skill to be a legit 20+ goal guy in the NHL if he works on his skating. Almost have to wonder if he was A: on our draft radar this year and just slipped, or B: us trying to get him in for an early look with plans to go after him next year or as a UFA if he makes some progress.

Goodrow was at the prospect camp earlier this summer as an undrafted invitee IIRC.

Yes he was. From what little I saw, he seemed a step behind but didn't embarrass himself. Based on Twitter he seemed to like the experience. I'd say he's worth inviting on the off chance he develops well.

I don't think we will do as well this year as we have done in the past. This is definitely the weakest forward group we have brought to one of these, but might be one of the better D groups we have brought.

The D is pretty nasty when you consider that a guy that (IIRC) was a regular last time in Stahl might simply be a spare this time around. Almost a pity that Andersen couldn't make the jump as they would probably have the best D and goaltending in the tournament if he did.

Top line has the potential to be nasty as well if it is indeed Shugg-Rask-Hofmann.

The rest? let's just say I hope that Goodrow can produce since we're really hurting for depth this year.

Neat to see Mavric Parks invited. He's from Eganville which is right by where I grew up in the Ottawa Valley.

You guys will love Benson. Couldn't believe he went undrafted this year. He's a prototypical projected 3rd line center. Ugly skater but he's very smart, gritty, great defensively, good on draws. Good offensive skills too.

He will be starting the WHL season as the Saskatoon Blades number 1 center as an 18 year old.

Thanks for the info. Maybe Jay McClement-ish?

Yeah, similar. I always see him as John Madden 2.0. With that being said, Madden is an elite skater while Benson is not.

That defense is just nasty. That's why we'll win the tourny.
