Friday Night Fights: July 29 2011

Might as well make a thread and see if anybody else around here is watching.

I'm not terribly pleased that fight was ended early, thought I don't think the result was affected based on what I saw.

Hall's goal was to just survive. He was in a shell from the start.

He failed at his goal. Next!

Well that was probably Cayo's round.

This is closer than I expected because I'm a homer. I'm liking it.

Cayo has decided that blocking jabs isn't important. By more score it's costed him two rounds.

I was busy and didn't watch tonight, but I usually do. We should just make this an FNF thread.

The Miranda/Despaigne bout had potential but it got ended early due to low blows. I didn't really agree with it, but whatever.

The Peterson/Cayo match was pretty good. If Cayo didn't insist on keeping his hands down and taking nonstop jabs to the face it would have been a little closer, but I think he still would have lost.

Otherwise, you didn't miss anything great. Jack/Hall was very one sided.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Peterson/Cayo fight (much more than I originally expected). Unfortunately, just as the Miranda/Despaigne fight the ref botched it. What a complete letdown. I think Miranda might have turned the fight around and gotten Despaigne out of their. Despite landing fewer punches, he was starting to have more effect.

Cayo sucks. He'll never be a real contender IMO. I was looking at his record and it's all bums. One of his recent fights was against a guy that's 0-15. I didn't even know there were boxers 0-15 but there you have it.

Really impressed by Peterson though. He's great to watch. Pure fundamentals.

The guy thinks he's Roy Jones, but he's not even close. His trainer must get so frustrated watching that.

Huh. So, my DVR picks up at the end of round 3 of Williams v Cervantes. By the time I finish writing up a scoresheet, it's over in round 4. Well then. Next fight!

Not only is he fighting again, he's fighting one of his toughest opponents ever.

I love B-Hop but the guy is seriously playing with fire, and I'd hate to see him get burned.

That went quick.

I only caught the end of the Diaz fight...I'm pretty sure Diaz keeps an artery over his right eye, good lord that was a lot of blood.
