Avery because of his tenacity and energy. He's Avery...
If we have Richards, Zucc, and Wolski, there is no need for EC if we go to the shootout.
But EC can fill in a top 6 role if there is an injury, which there undoubtedly will be over the course of the year. We're probably going to have at least 82 man games at forward lost to injury on a year to year basis, so it isnt unreasonable for EC to actually play for much of the year.
If its an injury to a guy like Rupp or Prust, you use Avery but to Wolski, Stepan or Richards, you should use EC
Avery most likely has no future here past this year.
Christensen is what he is, PAP 2.0.
Weise is actually at a crossroads in his career this year. He's either going to force his way onto this team, be part of a package if he doesn't, or meander around the AHL till his contract runs out that he signed this summer.
All that aside, if he doesn't turn heads in camp, but still shows that he's grown out of an AHL position, a platoon of him an MZA isn't a bad thing till one is clearly out performing the other on that 3rd line. Weise would be more helpful against "bigger" teams like SJ, ANH, STL, Bos, TO, or FLA. Then MZA could be used on nights against TB, Pitt, NYI, Col, CB, or MTL.
