Is John Albert still a prospect? He completed 4 years of college and was signed to an AHL contract, so doesn't that make him available to any NHL team?

This will definitely be the Pettersson-Wentzel / Leveille poll.

I went for Leveille.

As for Pettersson-Wentzel I haven't seen him play so I can't say much, but in my own opinion I always viewed Pasquale as the organizations top net-minder prospect.

This is what I found.

http://www.phpa.com/en/content/home/...ing-agreement/

Quote:
In the event a Player shall play in the AHL under other than an NHL contract, the Player and the AHL Club for which he plays shall enter into an AHL Standard Player’s Contract. The AHL Standard Player’s Contract is the agreement between the Team and Player which sets the terms and conditions of employment.
Sounds like he's got a binding contract with the AHL club.

Any chance we can take this list to the Top-30?

We're at 16th already and still have quite a few nice prospects.

If nothing else, this is a good way of familiarizing Winnipeggers with all of the prospects in our system. I personally didn't know much about Melchiori, Redmond, Leveille, etc. until these polls.

Same with me.

FPW has a ton of potential, but he's still very raw at this stage. Comparatively, Pasquale is the better prospect right now, but FPW has a higher ceiling.

Like I said in the last vote, I'm going with Edward Pasquale until either he gets picked or the voting ends.

There's always a chance. I'll have to update the next poll to Top-30 prospects. It's definitely getting thin on the voting as is, I hope fans still participate when we get even further down the line.

it's time for guys like JST and vinny saponari to go. i know you guys have probably never heard of them since they're both american and didn't play in the chl, but they really are the best that's left.

JST regressed last year for a poor Bowling Green team(USHL).

Rumors of arguments during practice with coaches has led some to believe Jordan may be leaving the team either during the winter break or after this year. However, if Samuels-Thomas wants to continue his career to the next level he’ll need to fully focus on becoming a complete player and not trying to make the perfect pass or shot every time the puck is on his stick.
Saponari got kicked off Boston U for alcohol related infractions.

Saponari showed interest in transferring to Boston College earlier this season, but was denied by BC admissions.
Both need to obviously mature and take their game/life more seriously to make the jump to the next level. I know both have skills, but they also have red flags that follow them.

i could honestly give a flip. they're the two most talented players left. of course jst regressed, he's the only good player on a horrible team. it's like saying kovalchuk is a bad player when he was stuck playing on awful teams.

and what college kid doesn't drink? really. saponari was very impressive in the ushl last year and now he's going to northwestern jst is transferring to a much better program where he'll get better coaching and won't have to carry his team.

Is there any word whether Pettersson-Wentzel is coming to North America this coming year, or is he staying put in Sweden?

Probably staying put in Sweden. He's playing in a good league and I actually have no idea if any CHL teams hold his rights.

He is eligible to play pro this year, isn't he?

CHL as in junior hockey? He's turned 20 so I don't know if he'd be eligible. After splitting last season between the second tier team Almtuna and Elitserien's Timrå he has moved on to a top organization for this season (Färjestad has been Swedish Champions twice in the last five years - 2009 and 2011).
