Hopefully he thrives with not having much pressure of him.

Either way...depth is good.

Should we read anything in to the Kings rumored interest in Drury, Drury's retirement, and now this signing?

I have put nothing into the drury rumors and would only say that he flat failed an offseason physical on his left knee and then delayed one for his right and the rest of his body. Things change so maybe he can have it fixed by some procedure, I don't know.

It is bone on bone so maybe they can slip something between them, when my knee did that I was done but I am ancient and am lucky that they didn't cut off my leg and give me a peg in its place. Maybe Eatham is a replacement signing to another failed deal but who knows?

He was our captain at the time.

He was also at the center of a New Years eve incident where he and the team were celebrating at a Calgary restaurant, ran up a huge tab, and then refused to pay.

Its no coincidence that both he and Steve Staios (also involved in the dressing room skirmish) were gone off the team one after the other. The story goes they and Souray were very hard on the younger players. Re: a-holes.

I get that he wont be counted on to do much, but he is not a good player to have around.

On a positive note I will say that he and his wife did wonderful work fundraising for the children's hospital here in Edmonton, and he was at one time a warrior and a useful player, but those days are long gone.

He has struggled with injury problems too.
none of this is confirmed or fact just bull **** fan speculation. He's an effective role player for a cup contending team that's it.

Moreau is well past his prime. But the expectations/responsibilities are low.
It's an odd, albeit low-risk, signing.

Oilers fans - myself included - forgot about him and didn't keep tabs on him in Columbus last year. Not sure how he did. The advanced statistics suggest he was the worst Blue Jacket forward. Keep an eye on his penalties. He took countless bad penalties during his last year in Edmonton (and publicly blamed losses on his teammates).

It'd be lazy to listen to Oilers fans blindly who write him off as an NHL player.
But it'd also be lazy to ignore the numbers (and his age/injuries) and consider him an effective bottom-6 checker.

I mean, it's not like this guy is going to be in a significant role or even TOUCHING a letter, so I don't see the reason for all the exceedingly bitter Oil fans going absolutely bat **** crazy on the main board.

low-risk, low-money signing to bring vet presence to the 4th line WHEN he does play. I know I'd rather have Moreau sitting than a kid from Manchester.

He may not bring a ton to the table anymore, he may even be completely washed up (I don't think so, though; I think he's got another decent year or two in him, even if it's just to prove people wrong), but at worst, we spend 600k to have a spare forward, one who COULD prove to be a positive influence.

Mountain out of a molehill here.

Cheap veteran depth for the 4th line. Not a great signing, not a bad signing. It's just a signing. If he's done, he's done, no skin off the Kings nose. If he has something left, in the situation the Kings find themselves in(looking to break through into the top of the West), he may find a second wind.

Them walking out on their bill was headline news.

Moreau not accepting responsibility for poor performances and throwing teammates under the bus in interviews is well documented.

The locker room altercation never made the media but it did happen, and both Moreau and Staios were gone shortly after.

Just because you dont know what you are talking about doesnt mean that the rest of us are clueless.

I might be mistaken but I remember Moreau always lighting us up when we played against the Oilers. Even though his best years might be behind him I like this bottom 6er signing.

I never heard about the skirmish or walking out on a bill. I loved the guy's on ice play over the years in Edmonton. I think it's a great signing, as we really need the leadership qualities he brings to the table.

I tend to agree with this statement.

Honestly, I can see Moreau putting his best foot forward seeing as that he's at the twilight of his career. This is the first time in a long time he's actually playing for a playoff caliber team.

I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him become one of the fan favorites.

Low risk, med to high reward is how I see it.

I don't remember the skirmish, but I do remember the bill. Hopefully, if true, the owner got compensated. Sounded pretty bad.

Parse is overrated let him play in the AHL

Totally agree. I have never been high on parse. He scored some pretty goals but really hasn't shown that he can be a consistent nhler, especially if we are going to be throwing him on the 3rd or 4th line. He's more of a 2nd line ahler

Parse is garbage, and its ridiculous to let a few madman dashes at the net confuse some people into thinking that he is an NHL player. He got by the last couple of seasons because the team was high on grit, short on pure talent. That is changing now, and a small, lazy Parse has no future on this team.

Low risk signing, like others mentioned, won't make much difference on the ice but weill add a vet presence in the locker.

So basically all of the Oilers problems on and off the ice were 100% Ethan Maureau's fault. Nothing to do with Nillson sucking, O Sullivan sucking, Grebeshkov sucking, Horcoff and Pisani not stepping up, Souray sucking and having a bad attitude....etc, etc

Walking out on the bill was 100% Ethan Maureau's fault!!!

And the physical altercation may have happened but saying Maureau was involved is a completely random guess.

Ridiculous post.
