All players contracts exspire after this year. Buffalo and Calgary are under the cap by about 1.5 million and the Ilses reach the cap floor as well as getting a top 4 defenceman.
Looks fine to me!

Oh my god you are serious! Isles give up Tavares to -wait for it- GET TO THE FLOOR! Which they are already over.

I heard a rumor that Eklund is a moron and doesn't have a clue about anything that goes on in hockey. I heard that rumor from EVERYONE that watches hockey.

So stop posting his idiot rumors on this site because NOBODY CARES.

on the downside in that we're a young team by the time we're a serious contender Sarich will be useless to us

Trading a 2nd for Sarich helps Calgary more than it does the Islanders, as Garth says, when he makes a trade it needs to make Short term and Long term sense for us to do it

Why Give up what ammounts to a late 1st in a deep draft for Cory Sarich? i agree its a great return for calgary, but it makes no sense for the Isles.

We just Got a very highly rated Scott Mayfield for a pick just like what youre asking for, and i can assure you Snow wouldnt trade Mayfield for Sarich. you have to look at both sides in a trade

and an Isles 2nd for Sarich is ridiculous, we got Wisniewski for less last year

Hagman for Hecht, Morrisonn, and a 2nd is "good player return"?

The Sabres can just waive Morrisonn/Kotalik and get under the cap without giving up anything of value.

He just said that the trade has stalled because of a certain player between Cgy and Buf.

To Calgary:
5th Round Pick from NYI
Cody Mccormick

To Buffalo:
2nd round pick from NYI
Jesse Joensuu

To NYI:
Andrej Sekera
Niklas Hagman

Islanders trade Joensuu, 2nd, and a 5th for Sekera (Defenseman they need) and Hagman (a 1 year 3rd liner who will play better with them then in Calgary). But take 4.2 mil in Salary.

Flames get rid of Hagman (value 3rd rounder) for Mccormick (replacement and 1.8 capspace) and a 5th round pick to even it out for them. And for those who will say we already have Leblond, Kostop and Ivanans for that role, all 3 of those guys contracts expire so we dont have to resign them then.

Sabres trade 4 mil in cap away (Sekera and Mccormick) for Joensuu and a 2nd round pick. Bury Kotalik in minors and you have 3.5 mil in space.

Value may be off, but I tried

Out of curiosity, who do you think it might involve? it sounds like a 3-team trade so might it involve Iginla?

Just something to throw around since there isn't much going on.

As a Flames fan, I do not want McCormick and the years left on his contract. I would rather keep Hagman until the deadline where he may be swapped for a 2nd or 3rd round pick. I see players in the organization that can fill the role McCormick would play.

Well I usually don't get involved in Eklund Rumors but it says the player is not keen on the trade, which to me would be a NMC. So maybe something around Bourque for Boyes +??

Fair enough. I was trying to make the 5th and mccormick just a 3rd but then Sabres would still have cap to loose, and there werent any players on the roster with the right cap for Calgary to take in and to keep the value. It was hard to make a deal between the three teams for me

Yeah, Calgary and Buffalo just aren't good trading partners. Maybe something along the lines of:

To Buffalo: Bourque (player who "isn't so keen on the trade") + NYI mid-early-round pick (2nd-3rd if Sekera)

To Calgary: Boyes + NYI pick (3rd-5th)

To NY: Morrisonn or Sekera + BUF 6th/7th

I have the same problem as you, but I see the main deal as being between Flames/Sabres and the Isles being a filler team to dump on. I threw in random picks because I felt like it though.

There is a HUGE difference between ShaMo and Sekera.

One is a 2mil paid #8 defenseman who Buffalo fans would love to ditch on someone for a 7th round pick.

One is a young guy who's still growing, will get top-4 minutes after a stellar season, and he's just signed a new multi-year deal.

You can't put "OR" between their names and have the same trade value.

Completely agreed, Corto. Morrisonn and Sekera do not have the same value, which is why I stated within the post that IF it was Sekera a pick would head the Sabres way. If it were to be Mo, then there is no need.

No interest what so ever from a flames perspective.

Simply put Bourque > Boyes.

Then you factor in their contracts and it becomes even worse for Calgary.

How do you figure? Boyes is a UFA at the end of the year, Bourque is signed long term.
