I actually like Partlett to make the team and work in time with Eminger in this spot

Kinda want Eminger to make the team as the 6th d-man.

I love his physicality, and the team would really benefit from his veteran presence on the ice.

With that said I think it's Del Zotto's spot to lose.

If he has a decent camp he should be on the opening night roster. If he's the same Del Zotto from last year then it's really a toss up between Valentenko and Eminger (although in that scenario I would fairly certainly say Eminger).

Heart and Head are telling me Del Zotto as of now.

I don't really like the idea of Del Zotto playing what's not natural to him at even strength ont he right side. I mean I don't know if he's versatile and maybe it makes no difference, but I'd imagine that's not the case

Kundratek is a major sleeper. I've always thought that he's been underrated as a prospect and, though I don't expect him to win the shot out of camp, I wouldn't be completely surprised to see him suited up in Stockholm. I think this is DZ's shot to lose but, out of any position on this team, this is the most uncertain position we have going forward.

gotta go with Del Zotto but if not him, VTank I would think.

Its going to be an exciting time for us Rangers fans this coming training camp (although EVERY training camp we get excited for various reasons).

Cant wait to see how our defense shakes out. Erixon fits the bill? Vtank sticks with the team or traded away? Sauer and McD' return to the same level they played with last year. Does Del Zotto come back STRONG and force the rangers hand to trade a good prospect d away

I optimistically picked DZ. I'm going to guess that his decision making will be much better than last year. The kid is a hard worker from all accounts. If he slips up we have Eminger. We also have plenty of options for call ups.

Del Zotto. He sounds like he's confident that this is his comeback year.

I think the poll became flawed due to wording. The last poll was for the "#5 Defenseman - left side." However, when people voted for Erixon (myself included), I think they may have picked him as the #5 defenseman, but with the intent to play the right side.

If the pairing is Erixon - Del Zotto, I'd say Erixon would probably be the one playing the right side (however, I still think that McDonagh - Erixon & Del Zotto - Sauer would be a much better balance).

Voted V-Tank, just because he'd be playing his natural side. Very excited to see how this all shakes out.

Del Zotto.

Though, Del Zotto should be on his strong side on the left and Erixon, who's more of a steady defensive player, should be on his weak side on the right.

Could benefit them both in the defensive zone and offensive zones.

If the Rangers get set up in the offensive zone with these two at the point, Del Zotto can feed passes to Erixon who would be able to shoot off the pass. He has a good shot from the point.

In the defensive zone, it gets Del Zotto looking at the wall as an option, no cross ice passes through the slot.

Not looking at it as "5th or 6th" its about who works better on what side.

Valentenko and Kundratek are good organizational depth, but unless multiple guys go down with injury or flop miserably, I don't see how these two figure into the long term here.

Staal
Girardi
McDonagh
Sauer
Del Zotto
Erixon
Eminger

Are a very solid and diverse group of defensemen.
Didn't have the energy re-write why MDZ on left and Erixon on right.

I really want Eminger. He's physical, a veteran (which is good to have) and I loved his game last year. It'll between him and MDZ.

Went with DZ. Him, Erixon, and Eminger should just rotate and play whoever is the hottest that that particular time

I hope MDZ is ready to bounce back. I'd feel beter if he had gone to Hartford last year and logged a ton of minutes playing in all situations. Unfortunately he went to Hartford and got hurt and it turned into a borderline lost year.

I believe MDZ has a spot to lose on the 3rd pair. I also am not sure he is ready, he might start there but I'm not sure he will stay if he does. Regardless Valentenko is ready to play on the 3rd pair in the NHL and I think he takes the spot.

I hope MDZ plays his way in here and keeps the spot, that would be best for the team going forward.

MDZ's spot to lose. We need a PMD in the worst way and if hes got his head on straight he could have a big year.

I personally think Del Zotto's role on the team is diminished with Richards and Erixon both here

Erixon isn't the same kind of player Del Zotto is. And if Del Zotto is playing well wouldn't provide nearly what Del Zotto can as far as getting the puck up to his teammates on the transition and making plays at the point.

Richards isn't a defenseman. On the PP he will QB, but what Del Zotto can provide in transition, no one else on the roster has that ability.
