If Hodgson could break out this seasons and put up 45 points or so he'd be very valuable to this team. I personally am not expecting it, but it is a possibility as the kid is now 21. I'd like to see him try out on the LW with Kesler and Samuelsson. He's a good passer, maybe he could do well there. Sure, the line would lack a strong forecheck but Kesler seems to like to carry the puck into the zone himself anyways.

Very excited for October, I want to see how Hodgson does.

yeah, it wasnt clean, but it wasnt as dirty as all the screamers made it out to be... 1 game wouldve been plenty, 2 games too much ...anyway, old news now

I want to see them start the season with a Sturm-Hodgson-Samuelsson line. Let's see what Cody can do with two real scorers and some quality 2nd line icetime. Of course if Kes is back it won't happen, but he then should get at least a decent shot on Kesler's wing and 2nd unit PP time... we'll see.

With everybody healthy and Coho playing well we have an abundance of 2nd-3rd liners...

Sedins-Burrows
Raymond-Kesler-Coho
Sturm-Manny-Sammy
Higgins-Lappierre-Hansen

that's a lot of depth at forward
then we also have 7 NHL-calibre Dmen, 9 if you include Tanev & Sulzer.
Looking pretty solid, esp with $2.5M in capspace.

Exactly! It's like the Dale Hunter hit on Turgeon -- everyone says it was dirty, but why didn't Turgeon have his head up?! Then again, the Islanders went on to win the series, so maybe it was a cheap shot... this is a tough one.

If Donald Brashear had just kept his head up, Marty McSorley might still be in the league!

Good contribution.

The hit didn't look that dirty to me when I saw it originally nor when watch it replayed at regular speed. But almost every replay showed it in slo mo. And I never thought Raffi's hit on Seabrook was dirty either. Seabs should have had his head up instead of fishing for the puck.

REVENGE!

Anyone who says Hunter' hit on Turgeon was clean needs their head examined, Turgeon scored and Hunter hit him several seconds later, it wasn't a poorly timed hit, it was a cheap shot pure and simple

It's a huge year for Hodgson. He played poorly in the minors and showed very little when he was with the Canucks last year. Hopefully he can improve a lot this year.

I was very high on him when the Canucks drafted him, thought a number one centre for sure.

Yes being the best player on your team is having a bad year

It's completely up to AV and how he plays him

He seems to have his favorites and not so favorites

Put Hodgson and Ballard in the "not so favorites" group for some reason

By the logic that poster used, you could assault a guy in the parking lot after the game and then claim he should've had his head up.

The Rome hit was a tad late, but in no way deserved a 4 game suspension. Especially compared to some of the other **** that went on in the series. NHL disciple committee is forever going to be a joke.

Well, the guy in the parking lot did not choose to participate in a sport that is very intense, physical and fast where anything can happen. I am not condoning cheap shots but your logic is flawed.

I think Hodgson has a pretty good shot at cracking the roster, at least to start the year. With Raymond out and Samuelsson being rusty, it'll be kind of a free-for-all (barring any more acquisitions) to ride shotgun for Ryan Kesler. Hodgson could slide in on that scoring line and get a chance to really prove himself. Here's hoping he comes to camp in top shape and determined.

New article about that BioSteel training camp confirming that both Hodgson and Tanev (!) are there.

Pretty awesome the calibre of players they're training with. Hodgson wants it!

I seem to remember him getting hot around November - December for the Moose, but then Lee Sweat broke his orbital bone and then he came back and wasn't as successful.

I hope he is back to being healthy and will be able to show what he can do come camp and preseason. I have seen enough footage of what he can do to believe he can succeed in the NHL.

Have you seen the hit being discussed? It was well after a goal was scored, there was no gameplay occurring.

Players who play hockey consent to actions within the scope of the game, however just because something takes place on the ice surface does not mean it's within that scope.

It's really hard to get a read on this kid at the pro level; he was basically carried as a spare late last season, and his year on the Moose was interrupted by injury (again). He's shown flashes though, I've seen what made him a high ranked prospect (outside of his success in Junior); hopefully he can come in with no lingering issues, work on his stride, and actually contribute in a top six role. Needs to stay healthy for a stretch and find some chemistry...with somebody.

Hansen was in that group for how long? Two years? And now he's definitely a fave.

It's up to Hodgson and how he plays.

Exactly. The same could be said about Raymond, and Grabner too. Hodgson needs to gain the trust of the coach through his play, and he hasn't done that yet.

Just carrying the logic used to justify Rome's hit to the extreme.
