Predators prospect Austin Watson is one of 29 players who made the cut at the USA Hockey National Junior Evaluation Camp. This helps determine who will play in the world junior championships in late December and early January.

Chase Balisy, a 2011 sixth-round pick for the Predators was one of the original players invited, but did not make this variation of the roster.

Patrick Cehlin scored the 4 - 1 goal and got a 2nd assist on the 5 - 1 goal in Djurgårdens premier game of 'European Trophy" against Slavia Prague yesterday.

I know it was mentioned that there was an older article that Kevin Allen mentioned Smith as a great prospect. He wrote an article on him most likely seeing time in Nashville this year a couple days ago.

How perfect will it be if at least three of these guys we keep hearing good thing about pan out just in time to replace Fisher, Legwand and Erat

Watson----Legwand
Fisher------Smith
Cehlin----Erat

How good/bad are those comparisons?

Watson sounds more like Hartnell to me.

The #4 scorer was a D-man, Josi. I think you are counting your chickens before they are hatched.

The Admirals didn't win their division because they scored 226 goals, tying for 14th. They won because they only gave up 194 goals, third best in the AHL.

Earlier in the thread I linked Hockey Prospectus ranking the Preds overall #3. Since we're ranking the prospects in the polls right now, thought I would list their ranking (as of 8/1):

1. Mattias Ekholm, Defense
2. Ryan Ellis, Defense
3. Craig Smith, Center
4. Roman Josi, Defense
5. Patrick Cehlin, Right Wing
6. Taylor Beck, Right Wing
7. Austin Watson, Right Wing
8. Gabriel Bourque, Left Wing
9. Michael Latta, Center
10. Zach Budish, Right Wing

The Predators have built an elite system, aided by what may be one the better draft classes I have ever seen in the 2009 class. There is a chance that class could churn out as many as 7-8 NHL regulars and several significant producers. Considering the fact that the Preds graduated Jonathan Blum and just recently traded Cody Franson, the talent they continue to pump out on defense is nothing short of impressive.

There's a lot of projection in this system, and I left several notable names off the top ten just because of the depth of this system. At goaltending, Chet Pickard has underwhelmed, but consider that the Preds just recently gradated a top-end goaltending prospect in Anders Lindback. There really isn't a lot to criticize about this system other than there's no first line forward type of prospect, but that would be a huge nitpick.

Salomäki played on the 1st line against Färjestad SEL champions at european trophy match, this kid was loonatik out there, giving huge hits, agitating and going to the rebounds like mad. Was quite good offensively aswell. His nick name is Härkä which means the Bull.

Cehlin scored Djurgårdens only goal in the 3 - 1 defeat against Kalpa. He have now posted 6(2+4) points in 6 games at The European Trophy Tournament.

and yet SI released that "best system" ranking a few weeks ago, which included talent in the prospect pool, and we were ranked 26th.

I think he clinched his 1st line spot in his very deep FEL team with this game. If he manages to put around 35-40 points at FEL it would be awesome. I predict something like 30Pts tho.

I believe his offense is mainly generated in the fashion that Hornqvist scores...rebounds! No problem with that though, many guys have made a career of doing that. Doesn't matter how you score...they all count the same on the scoreboard!

Couldnt agree more, I love the hardworking gritty goal scorers like Holmstrom Hartnell and Hornqvist
