He did. That is true. Brodeur always comes up in threads about Lundqvist, and vice versa.

I would definitely consider this, but I would think LAK would say no.

I guess you don't realize how good Poulin is going to be and how MacDonald would be your #2 defenseman behind Staal.

I'd LOVE to have what ever you're smoking. A goalie with 30 games under his belt, an unproven player, and a 1st will not get you a world-class goaltender.

My counter offer

Phil Kessel + Nazem Kadri + James Reimer + 1st

Hank

That's what it'd take to get me even to listen to anything regarding Lundqvist.

Not a chance. He'd be the 2nd best defenseman on the team.

Nope. MacDonald would probably be our #2 or 3 D. He is very under rated

Poulin had a hot stretch of 10 games with the Islanders. I'm not convinced he'll replace arguably the best goalie in the league going into next season.

And Girardi and Staal are better than MacDonald.

If Lundqvist is going to NYI, I'd want Tavares and a top defenseman prospect.

I want Kulemin as one of the pieces back, he'd fill a hole in our LW position.

The argument about Andy MacDonald is interesting. He is a highly underrated player for sure, but I honestly don't know where he would fit on the Rangers defensive depth chart. I expect to see a lot more out of both McDonagh and Sauer this year. MDZ could return to form and by all accounts Tim Erixon is legit, just a smidge behind Larsson, if at all. Girardi could wind up being the 6th best defenseman on the Rangers next year... or the second best, if the other four I named all disappoint. Similarly, MacDonald could be anywhere from #2 on the depth chart to #5 (I don't see him slipping to #6), depending.

I don't know what Lundqvist's contract status is, but I'd have to send some salary the other way from the Caps. So, here goes:

Mike Green (D, 5.somethingM, RFA next year)
Jason Chimera (W, 1.8somethingM, UFA next year)
Matthieu Perreault (Caps 4th ranked prospect according to HF, good hard-working offensive 3/4C)
BOS 2nd 2012 or COL 2nd 2013

Clearly Green is the major piece here. I think he would be a great fit with Marc Staal. This would allow Girardi to anchor a very good 2nd pairing, probably with one of the up-and-coming Rangers blueliners (Second chance for Del Zotto?) I don't know enough Rangers to comment further, but that would seem plausible to me as an outsider.

Keep in mind that:

1) I am assuming that Lundqvist is signed for a number of years with the Rangers
2) His cap hit is fairly high
3) I have had 3/4 of a bottle of wine and several beers prior to posting

Just like the guy yesterday who thought August came after October, it's only funny because of how douchey it sounded with the "#fail" after it
