And there we go. I am going to need a volunteer to be commissioner in league 4. First volunteer from league 4 will get the position.

Red name = your commissioner, bow down to them or else.

Rules for all Commissioners to follow when setting up your league and for all people who are confused on how our fantasy leagues will be working:

You draft your players based on position needs. The league I am making has 3 Centers (C), 3 L Wingers (LW), 3 R Wingers (RW), 1 extra Forward (F), 4 Defenseman (D), 2 Injured Reserves (IR) for players who get hurt, 4 Bench (BN) players so that when players in your line-up have a night off, you can replace them with a player who is playing that night, and 2 goalies (G). You draft these players in the live draft.

Stats are self explanatory, the players do all that for you. Being a fantasy manager is all about drafting well and managing your team every day to make sure you have players who are playing that day in your line-up. Each week you will get matched up against someone else in your league, your players have to get better stats than their players and you get a "WIN" for every stat category you beat them in and a "LOSS" for every stat category they beat you in, and a "TIE" in every category you guys tie (never happens with GAA and SV %).

Your overall record is accumulated based off all of your stat category wins, losses, and ties. Let's say in 2 weeks (2 different matchups), you go 6-3-1 in all 10 stat categories the 1st week and then 8-2-0 the next week, your overall record is 14-5-1, giving you 29 points after 2 weeks, you score it just like hockey. 2 points for a win, 1 for a tie, and 0 for a loss. Hope that helped you a lot.

This is a HEAD-TO-HEAD league, not head-to-head points, HEAD-TO-HEAD.

Good luck to all participants in HF Boards Yahoo Fantasy 2011-2012. May the best Ranger fan win.

Didn't even realize Fantasy Hockey is up on Yahoo already. Setting up my league now, everyone look out for PM's with league ID and password.

Makes absolutely no sense, it just let me go thru the whole process of creating the league and then when I try to register it, it says the league exists already. Then I go on Yahoo and I go to all fantasy sports and Hockey isn't listed there yet, but it's up on its own page... this is annoying.

I thought it was early yet for registrations, but I have not been on the page in awhile. Pretty sure hockey sign-ups start in September.

Edit: Well according to their site, first live-drafts start on the 27th, so I guess it is open.

Just saw on the Yahoo message boards a lot of other commissioners are having the same problem. it was probably just put up and they are fixing and working everything out. I'll try again tomorrow or over the weekend to get the league up

I think all leagues should have the same settings.

Anyone want to explain the basics of fantasy hockey to me (or give me a link that will?)

Like, for example, what is the difference between a keeper and non-keeper league? In your setup Hagelin what does it mean when you say 2IR and 4 Bench?

I'm excited for this, but I need to learn the basics

Edit: Also I agree with kaneone that all leagues should have the same settings.

Keeper leagues means you get to retain a certain amount of players from your roster each season, obviously like a real team you would choose top players/prospects.

IR = injured reserve
Bench = players you can swap out daily (or weekly depending on settings) for players who do not have games that night.

Regarding the bench. So ideally you want to manage the bench in such a way so you have the max amount of your players playing on a given day?

Edit: Yes Hagelin that was very helpful. Thanks, I appreciate it .

All leagues follow this criteria for rosters:

3 Centers (C), 3 L Wingers (LW), 3 R Wingers (RW), 1 extra Forward (F), 4 Defenseman (D), 2 Injured Reserves (IR), 4 Bench (BN), and 2 Goalies (G).

Still waiting for volunteers to commish leagues 1, 3, and 4

Yes and no. Some leagues have max games played per position. So it is prudent to micro manage these games by only playing your best players for each position all the time, and some nights giving the others a night off. Conversely you can play to the stats and play players who have good track histories against certain teams and know they will probably produce. There are many strategies, but usually following hot hands and prior stats is the safest.

If there is no limit to games played in the league, then go buck wild and max the roster out every night. Just be careful if the league has max moves that can be made on the waiver wire, don't go emptying your bench nightly just to fill the roster. You will screw yourself over if players get hurt and you cannot replace them. Not to mention changing rosters completely every night in leagues with no max games, and no max moves is generally frowned upon.

A good comm will set max moves, max games is okay to go without.

Edit: A good commissioner.
