Brodie just clarified that it's a 2 year deal:

But yeah, I'd prefer to think Ratto's an idiot and he meant to type 3. Damn you autocorrect.
I'd prefer to think that Ratto needs a special dialing wand.

I am hearing that he will take a home town discount to try to help the Sharks win the cup in the next 3 seasons...while he probably could have pressed for more $$ at fair market value though.

It's gonna be something like 4-4.5 total over 2 years.

Great news for the Sharks. DW is really having a great off season, could only get better if he can get Nabber to carry his clubs for his next golf outing

Doesn't matter really if it's two or three years. Two years puts him as an expiring contract when everyone else expires so he can get top dollar then.

Pollak's blog announcement.

Sharks "no comment" tonight; conference call announcement expected in morning.

It's really hard to knock DW for a single thing he's done this off-season.

Now just wiggle Brad Marchand out of Boston and call it an off-season DW

Two years from now, aren't only Vlasic, Clowe, and Murray's contracts expiring (others too, but these 3 are the most notable ones)? It's the year after where everybody else has to get a new contract (Thornton, Marleau, Pavelski, Boyle).

Two years on top of the one coming up. so in 3 years he will need to be resigned.

Nope, it'll line up with Thornton, Patty, Boyle and Pavs. That's gonna be a crazy off-season...

Oh right. My bad.

Darn you Doug Wilson for going all-in-or-blow-up. That off-season will either be awesome or completely suck.

I assume its because he expects a reduction in pay for JT/Patty/Boyle and will send that money to Pavs/Couture.

Does Couture become a UFA for the 2014-2015 season? Or is he still RFA?

Seems to have 2 more years of RFA, though I could have mis-read this again.

3 ELC + 2 year extension = 5.
7 - 5 = 2. Unless there is some additional rule to apply.

RFA. He won't be UFA for another four seasons, I think.
