From Phoenix, I have no idea, their most valuable players are their young guys like Turris and Boedker. Although no point to trade DZ for one of them, he is our only hope for PMD right now. I'd love to get Boedker or Turris, just not for DZ
do you mean PPQB? Pretty much all our D are good PMDs. Good skaters with good first passes. (what is a second pass BTW?)
Phoenix is not trading EC + 3rd for Stempniak IMO. We would have to give them something of genuine value to get Stemper. His cap hit is not so bad that they would feel compelled to get rid of him and he is gonna get that team 20+ goals so they are going to need something to replace that scoring. And where does Zuccarello play if not on the 3rd line? I'm not ready to trade MZA, mostly because he WILL have a better season. I don't know by how much, but he's physically more ready, is improving his skating; his trade value will go up. EC for a draft pick makes the most sense because Phoenix could use bodies now. Non 1st round draft picks won't help their team right now.
isn't that rather short sighted? after this season MZA is RFA and Stemp is UFA. Unless we are for sure loading up for a Stanley Cup run, that would be bad asset management IMO, and we won't know that situation till the deadline. Right now is Stemp > MZA, probably but I would not take Stemp over MZA today. I'm convinced MZA will have a better season. At least let him boost his trade value before you jettison him.

I didn't say I'd trade him, but let him play in Connecticut and see how he does, he can be a good call up.

I've changed my mind. A deal that I can most certainly see and i think makes alot of sense is Christensen for Taylor Pyatt. a big bodied left winger who can score goals. They both had similar numbers and fill a need for each side.
Sure he isn't a top flight LW we may be looking for and maybe wouldn't even beat out WW for that top spot but he would certainly provide some stiff competition and add some good depth on the sides.

guys EC stinks they also dont need another body, its a pick or he stays on the team as a spare.
Pyatt is better, Stepniak is better and we are not getting Korpedo back, ah well Hagelin will be the equivalent

He would provide a need for PHX. They need another center and someone that has a measure of skill which Christensen certainly has. Over the last few seasons they have been pretty close in terms of production. It just seems to make alot of sense and the kind of deal that Don Maloney would go for.
We want to talk about Phoenix players that don't have a place on this club, Korpedo has to be about #1 on my list.
Guys guys your forgetting all about mister ray whitney. Yes he's old, but a perfect stop gap for our 1st line LWer till kreider comes next year. He only has one year left at 3 mill. His name has been floating around for awhile in trAde talks. Not sure how it would work cap wise tho and how much more we'd need to add with Christensen?
Phoenix isn't moving Korpikoski. However, if the opportunity arose, I'd do a 2nd and Christensen for Lauri in a split second. Korpikoski really found his game in Phoenix last season - he became a very versatile player, a guy who wouldn't look out of place on any line. He's an excellent 3rd line winger who can spot top-6 duties in the event of an injury or slump, play an effective game in all three zones, and excel on the PK.
There would definitely be room for him in the lineup. In fact, a line of Fedotenko-Stepan-Korpikoski would be an excellent line. Moot point, though, the 'Yotes need Korpi.
Christensen + a pick for Stempniak is intriguing, however.
Edit: If I had a choice, I'd take Pyatt over Stempniak. Either would be a solid acquisition, though.
If the return is a fifth round pick or later, or some prospect that looks like a career-AHLer, then I'd rather just hold onto Christensen. In all likelihood, he'll pick up a few points for us this year--be it in a SO, or the one out of six games where he decides to make an impact. That's likely more than can be said for whatever we get in return.
I dislike EC, but no need to get rid of him just for the sake of making a move. He's a good depth player.
