- Still in Montreal but coming to Toronto next week
- Feeling pretty good, come a long way last 6 weeks
- Doing some workouts, is on the ice, getting in better shape
- Progressing ‘real well’
- No timeline when he’ll be ready but heading in right direction
- ‘haven’t been this excited to play in as long as i can remember’
- Excited about the leaf team and the future here
- Will get examined by leaf doctors next week but is hopefull to be ready soon (didn’t explitly say he’ll be ready for training camp but didn’t shoot it down)

-Progressing well, skating and working out.
-Cant set a timeline.
-Describes how it feels and what it is like going through a concussion.
-Thinks once healthy he can return to form
-Excited to play and thinks there is a good group of players in Toronto.
-Ok with the role he is set to play (offensive or more of a defensive role player)
-In Toronto next week to talk with the medical staff.

Using a small amount of inference, he will probably attend camp in a non-contact role and won't be ready to start the season. That said, headaches sound mostly gone and he is on the ice training.

yea i have a feeling he'll be in the lineup before the new year

could give this team a real boost down the stretch, not that we've needed it last couple of years lol

A nice interview. Sounds like he is making good progress after a really tough year. Seems pretty excited about the upcoming year. Not guaranteeing his status, but long as he doesn't have set-backs shouldn't be far off from playing.

Man, I remember really wanting to sign him when he was available. If he's able to get into a playing role for us then I'll be thrilled. I don't expect him to be on his A game but it'll be steps in the right direction.

Like it's been said, even if he loses a couple steps, its fine, he was already 10 steps ahead of the rest anyway

Got this off an external site:

Quote:
Assets
Owns excellent penalty-killing skills. Makes his linemates better around him because of deft setup ability and great speed. Is an accomplished face-off man.

Flaws
Not very big, he needs to gain more strength. Will also need to continue upgrading his level of consistency in order to elevate his game even more in the NHL.

Probably the fastest skater in the league (if not #1, he's top 3).

Good for about 15-18 goals and around 50 points. Post-concussion, who knows how much this changes.

Very good on the PK.

He's pretty much a speedy two-way center. Perfect for our third line.

I really wanted the Leafs to get him two summers ago.

Just curious as to what he said. According to him what DOES it feel like to go through a concussion?

he basically said that for the first 5-7 weeks he couldn't even watch tv, read, do anything outside etc. without experiencing severe head pains and other symptoms

also they talked about some bands that come through toronto at the end of the interview and he said now the noise (at concerts) won't bother him

He's from Quebec though, but Lombardi is generally an Italian surname.

As a fellow concussion sufferer (2 in 5 months), I really appreciate this interview and how openly he spoke of his symptoms, which are exactly the ones I've felt to a T.

Thanks for the recaps everyone! This is great news hearing from himself that he's progressing towards getting back on the ice. I still cannot believe he might contribute this year. What awesome news that he can drastically helps out the pk when he's healthy and use his speed to create great offense.

Born there, the south region, and frequently go back to visit my family and re-assimilate with the culture (every two years). But live in Canada now.
