Being from Quebec doesn't make you French, being French does.

Anytime I hear or read what concussion victims go through...terrifying.

Huh? What is the difference? He's a French Canadian.... Are you trying to say the only French people are the ones born in France?

So he is French, thought he was Italian?

No I'm saying that French people are the ones born French.
My wife was born in Montreal, she is no where near French nor is any of her family that still lives there.

I don't care if he's from Yemen and speaks Swahili as long as he can help us win some games

Very good on the PK.

He's pretty much a speedy two-way center. Perfect for our third line.

I really wanted the Leafs to get him two summers ago.
I doubt he puts up 50 from the 3rd line, but who knows how he meshes with Bozak, Kadri, and Armstrong.

Just to clarify, Matthew Lombardi grew up in Hudson, QC which is just a bridge away from the West Island of Montreal, a very English part of the island. Hudson is also predominantly Anglophone (65% according to wikipedia) but a lot of the residents are bilingual.

As far as I know Lombardi is an Anglophone. My brother-in-law actually used to be the lifeguard at the pool where Lombardi swam while growing up (lame as far as hockey connections go, I know). Anyway, hopefully he recovers well. Would be nice to see a local guy succeed, but also just for his own health.

Good point. Probably looking at closer to 40 on our third line.

You are correct sir. I used to know him personally, (went to school with him, his brother and sister who are both older than him). His pops is Italian and his mom is either Irish or Scottish (she passed away recently) I hope he can make a difference on the Leafs and take em to the playoffs!

Wow, small world here on HF, very surprised with the Italian content.

Whatever Lombardi is, thanks for the clarification from those who know him (cool to know his dad is Italian- I figured as much but didn't know). I have a lot of respect for Matt and what he's been through, I really hope he can pull through completely and get his career back on track.
