Just tossing this out there...I don't know much about him, but the buzz in hockey ops here is all about Mike Connolly. A common phrase used: "the real deal".

This is the area, 6-7, of the rankings where I tend to see the most inflated projections.

Generally, I need to see a 7.5 to see any chance of regular second line service.
Everyone can do what they want but I believe there should be some universal guidelines -- otherwise why bother
DET HF kept Kindl as one of their top 5 prospects until this past season even though he was drafted in 05 and was 24 yrs old..

If Braun has too many games ( 28 ), Does that eliminate McLaren with 32, or McCarthy with 41..or Wingels with 5 or Griess with 19 since he's a goalie

A lot of the articles I've read about him say the same thing. I'm looking forward to hearing what you think once the season starts.

Saw him on the college stations (Dirct TV ) a few times -a very good player but really small and not filled out at all (for his age 22).. I think he's going to struggle in the pros unless he gets bigger and stronger .. Kind of Surprised that SJ signed him , usually not their size of player ..sort of like Varone

Reid, same age 22, from the Huskies looks ready now based on his play good sized 6'1-- nothing fancy but a solid RW who can score.. Saw him at several games including the Beanpot . I have a hunch that sometime during the season he could be a call up ..

He's officially listed at 5'9" 180#...the guess of the guys I talked to was he was closer to 5'10" and up to about 185#, and has apparently spent a lot of time with the Sharks strength and condition staff.

If all goes according to plan I'll be covering the WorSharks training camp and (hopefully) live tweeting some highlights.

That list is pretty accurate - not sure I'd have Petrecki as #1 but if they're looking at player upside / potential, it's pretty close.

i think i'm at peace with the ranking. no need to pick at the scab. if Thornton, Marleau, and Havlat are still top-6 forwards in 3 years, we will be fine. we can fill in the rest with our 3rd liners.

X - Couture - Pavelski
Marleau - Thornton - Havlat
Hamilton - Wingels - Mashinter
McGinn - Viedensky - X
Connolly

Vlasic - Burns
Doherty - Demers
Petrecki - Braun

Niemi
Stalock

Connolly did not look that big last season ..
-- In fact , the Bulldogs (UMD) roster listed him at 5'8" and 160 and pressguide 5'9" and 175..
Hard to believe that he grew 1-2 inches at 21/22 yrs old .

I would have written the universal if they lived by them. They tend to live by it at the top and bottom. I wrote it out as they tend to live it.

I have also found that 30-70 game area to be a bit fluid.

I haven't seen him so I don't know...hopefully he'll be at Worcester's camp during the public sessions so I can get a look.

It'll take a surprising surge to change the expected finish, but a quick reminder that there is only about 90 minutes left to vote.

I'll be out for a good chunk of the afternoon, so poll #2 might not be up until 4 or 5 o'clock tonight.
