That's because there are more posters from the Triangle here than there are from the coast, which is what took the pounding from Irene. Even here in Greenville things weren't nearly as bad as just 30 mins down your way in New Bern.

Part of the problem, too, is the news outlets in Raleigh are almost as bad as in NYC. They always make it seem like every hurricane will be the end of times, while our local ones in eastern NC report the way they should and don't use fear tactics or blow things out of proportion.

Sorry to hear about the damage. I have some property a little further north of you on the inner banks as well. I have to take a ride out there to see how it faired. I'm hoping the dock is still in good shape as it is only a couple years old.

Based on your description, looks like I better bring my chainsaw just in case.

The rain shield due north of the center of this storm was really impressive, and that held true whether in eastern NC or Vermont.
