Something is new at the Bell Center... Bell Centre questions

It seems that traditionnal red line at the Bell Center (red and white) has been replaced by CH logos. It's ok for now but how will it looks as the season goes on and the designs get blurred by the Zambonis...

One little logo for each stanley cup victory.

Since our logo is red it shouldn't cause any problems. We will probably see other teams try and do stuff like that as well like Leaf logos on the blue line.

There's way more than 24 on there.

I think they should have probably put the logos closer together, just so the line seems more red.

The blue and red lines both contain "Reebok" logos in the area where they rise up the boards, I think that and the on-ice and board ads (some lit up now, thankfully the Bell C has yet to go that far) bring more of a distraction. Sucks to pay 300$ to sit in an arena filled with ads, in the old days the game had a much better aesthetic, ads are pollution.

Leafs have already done red maple leaves on the center ice line.

Not a fan, I like uniformity in terms of ice design/aesthetics around the league.

Its not a big deal. You'll barely notice it during games if at all.

I never said they'd be logical complaints!

Wish the Canadiens went back to the baby blue endplates at the bottom of the boards, like they had in the late 80s, early 90s. Unique, and gives the building a more Quebec feel IMO.

yeah, I think there's a rule against that now

Those were the days where the rinks didnt look so generic

Yeah, you're right. There is an actual rule that says the plates need to be yellow in the rulebook. Must be for TV. There is also a rule since 2006 that all adboards need to be on a white background. It really has cleaned up the look of the rink, since ads started coming in during the late 80s. If you watch highlights from the late 90s or early 2000s, I think the rinks look dirtier because coloured ads were allowed.

Seeing those pictures from that early 90s era fills me with such nostalgia. Saturday nights by the fireplace, watching Patrick Roy, Russ Courtnall and Mike McPhee. Those were among the first hockey games I ever watched. A return of the blue endplates would satisfy me immensely.

This is what the centre red line looked back in 1979
