I could be interested. Is ESPN better than Yahoo?

I would be down with a pool.

Im more for straight up points, than either of those. I dont really think its fair that if you have a 30 goal lead over second place that you only get 1 more point.

Dont really care if its keeper or not I think it might cost 25 bucks a year for the keeper league.

G A PPP GWG +/- , hits if people really want it.

Goalies W GA saves SO - League im in on ESPN already has .1 pts per save but -1 for a goal and -1 for a loss not sure if everyone would want to do that.

Id do a draft just take a poll and see when the majority of people can make it.

Majority rules for trade vetoes.

I'm down for this! We have to have some time of bet going though not necessarily money but I'm sure the creative minds of Hf can think of something cool to award the winner

In my experience, yes. If anyone else has anything to suggest, I'm open to it. The reason I love ESPN is because live game scores (and not just points, but also stats like blocked shots, hits are all updated instantly) is free. Unless Yahoo changed theirs to free, I always preferred ESPN.

Yeah no problem, I just put 1000 posts as a benchmark, but as long as you're active, it should be fine.

It's true that H2H can be unfair in the sense that you get thrased 10-2 when you might have been 6-4 against another team in that same week. The only reason I preferred H2H was because of the stress and the constant renewal of excitement every week when you met a new team.

For me:

G, A, PPP, SHP, GWG

and debatable categories (that I loved because they add another dimension to team building):

+/- (I don't like it, but others do)

FOW (forces you to consider all around centers that are good at faceoffs, and maybe RW that can also win the draw)

HIT, BLK (mainly a reason for valuing defensemen that can hit, block and put up points, and even if your D isn't stacked on offense, you could get some points out of these)

Goalies:

W, GAA, SV%, SO

Dunno about saves, I've never played with that.

Yeah the saves is different, it is balanced out by giving up points when a goal is scored but that was is fine too. I think its just more of a way to get goalies involved more when it is just points. If people want +/- gone thats cool im not big on it anyways. SHP are a good call. Im good for whatever people want as long as we know when we are drafting.

I know I don't look like an active member of the board, but I'm on multiple times a day (I just don't post a lot).

I've never been in a league but I really want to be. I live in the states and there's never anyone to play with. I have, however, placed in the Barfly playoff pool on St Laurent two years in a row.

Take a flyer on a rookie?

I'm in, if you guys want me to. I just registered to ESPN fantasy. I'm more familiar with Yahoo but it doesn't matter.

I prefer the rotisserie type pool and I'll adapt to the caterorie the majority wants. I'm not a big fan of the +/- and the pim stats (Ex: Horray, Cammy just got 2 min for being lazy...or worse: Yes, Chara just got 5, 10 a game for trying to kill Pacioretty)

My favorites are:

G, A, PPP, GWG, HIT, BLK

W, GAA, SV%, SO

Here's what I put for now, feedback would be appreciated.

A few notes:

- I put auction for waivers so we could keep it interesting and fair. Also a limit of 40 waiver transactions, so use them at your risk.

- A limit of 82 games per slot (to stop people from hoarding players to stack games played)

- 2 players per position C/RW/LW, with 3 free to be anything. So you could have 2 RW, LW and 5 Centers if you wanted. I might put a restriction to 4 max per position if that needs be.

- 5 Bench? Is that too many?

- Hat tricks? Blocked Shots? PIMs?

- Max 16 or 20 players? (If we even get that many)

Thanks for the interest guys! Also for those with limited posts, I'd love to invite everyone, but if there are members who are more active that want to join, I'll have to consider them before. I hope it doesn't come to that, but it's the best way for me to ensure building an active community (the members of the pool know each other/post regularly and frequently).

I used to be in an annual hockey pool with some friends, but it fizzled out a few years back and I never thought joining a random pool would be fun. I guess having one through these boards would be a bit less random. So I'm definitely interested!

As for all the parameters, I'll leave that up to the guys who have experience with ESPN, as I was a Yahoo'er back in the day.

If we eclipse the 16 player mark and add other slots, you'll be the first(s)!

Skating
Goals (G)
Assists (A)
Plus/minus (+/-)
Game-Winning Goals (GWG)
Faceoffs Won (FOW)
Hits (HIT)
Blocked Shots (BLK)
Power Play Points (PPP)
Short Handed Points (SHP)

Goaltending
Wins (W)
Shutouts (SO)
Goals Against Average (GAA)
Save Percentage (SV%)

Took off: PIM, Saves
Added: BLK, FOW

9 skating pts vs. 4 Goaltending pts.

If 16 players:

9 Forward spots: 2x - C, RW, LW
3 - Anything
4 - D
5 - Bench
2 - Goalies

Total: 20 spots x 16 players = 360 NHL players taken

If 20 players:

9 Forward spots (same as before)
4 D
3 Bench
2 Goalies

18 spots x 20 players = 360 NHL players taken

Am I missing something? Is there a way to improve this?
