Yes, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's flashy or sticks out. Forbort is a smooth skating guy but he doesn't have killer speed so you won't see him fly. He's got a good pass and a decent shot. I'm not sure if he's going to be used in a defensive role and thats why he hasn't stuck out or if he's just not playing well but come WJC time, I hope he can step up and stick out.

He was paired with Justin Faulk (I believe), who was arguable the best defensmen last year, and is one of the other 2 returners on defense. They (if they stay together) most likely be the top defensive pair. Nuff said.

Forbort has a ways to go. His size is pretty impressive for his age and will be very impressive for the NHL in three years or so. He lost some development time battling mono and now some back issues. He did not look agile or mobile in development camp but he was clearly bothered by some minor back problem. He will take some time but that is hardly unusual for a defenseman and particularly one his size. He is still catching up in terms of his coordination, raw all around at this point.

What's the deal with Czarnick? AHL or ECHL bound this year?

The Kings are probably loving the idea of Schumacher playing with Kantor and Miller, invitees to camp that the Kings have been rumored to sign.

Interesting how Schumacher, who wasn't on anyone's radar because of where he was playing, not only gets drafted in the first round of the import draft, but then gets traded for before he even gets a game in.

Kinda too bad that he gets traded from the OHL champions to one of the worst teams though.

That might actually help benefit Schumacher's development. He may see a lot more ice time playing with the Soo.

He will in all likelihood begin the year in Ontario. Manch is packed now with Zatkoff and Jones. The likely scenario is that Zatkoff is let go after this year, and Berube becomes Jones' backup while Gibson goes to Ontario.

Joshua Turnbull and Garrett Roe did not sign with the Kings this summer. They are now free agents. Sorry if this is old news.

More a matter of in case he makes the team or gets called up. Zatkoff had a similar mask when he played in Reading? or was it Ontario his rookie year. Also Jones did the same thing last year and he started the season in Ontario as well.

When would Schumacher be elligible to go to Manchester? I believe he can go earlier since he's from Europe. What would a realistic expectation be?

Since he (presumably) signed a contract with the Soo, I believe he's now subject to the same transfer agreement, so not until he turns 20 or if his team's season is over.

I know he can go to Manch once the season is over but can he stay there instead of going back to Juniors the following season (assuming he pays the transfer fee)?

The rules are if he is drafted outside of the CHL then he can go to the AHL anytime. Does not have to wait till he is 20

Disappointed about Roe--He's an interesting prospect.

Garret Roe may still be a member of the Kings organizaton. One site reported that he is a free agent and another says that he still Kings property. Anyone heard anything on his status?

Saw Quisp make the arguement that players drafted out of college or that go to college after being drafted have four years to sign before they are a free agent. Since Roe was drafted after his freshman year the Kings maintain his rights until the end of this year despite him no longer being in school... The logic makes sense but I've seen nothing to confirm it or deny it. So he may still be able to sign a contract with Manchester and play there this year and be a Kings prospect still like guys like Azevedo, Pelech, and Kolomatis did.

Roe can sign with any team.

Schumacher can go to the AHL whenever LA wants, he was drafted outside of the CHL. I would imagine he is in the Soo for this year at least tho. What is the word on Colin Miller and Michael Kantor at the rookie camp, possible signings?

Nothing concrete, both were invites to the development camp earlier this summer and many of those same players are invites to the prospect camp that runs before training camp starts (edit: starts today at 10am actually.) Most of those players end up being invited to training camp as well. The Kings can't actually sign them until training camp begins though since both are still draft eligible. There is a small window to sign draft eligible free agents that overlaps with training camp which is what happened with Jones. So until then there won't be much Andy Roach and Pierre Durepos are in a similiar situation as well but I don't see the Kings signing all four of them.

He signed with Philly. This way he has a better chance of making the Kings team in the future.
