So did anyone listen to Mayor Dean on 102.5 The Game today? He apparently said Nashville wanted to pursue the Rays.

That would be pretty awesome for you guys if it happened.

No, that would be terrible. It would eat at some of the Preds market.

Exactly. It only effects late April (and if the Preds are in the playoffs, those games are selling out and the baseball team takes a backseat) and the season ends about a week before the NHL season starts unless the MLB team makes the playoffs so it only effects a few games.

The only problem would be the stadium. I have no idea how they would fund it and if a tax was needed if residents would be okay with that but it would be pretty awesome to have a team to cheer for in the summer and Nashville is one of the fastest growing metro areas in the United States, so there would probably be a population base to support the MLB team, Preds and Titans.

no, it drastically affects the Preds. It affects people's disposable income for sports. It would be horrible.

There are numerous tweets tonight from the media who have spoken with Mayor Dean's office and say that the mayor is not pursuing or planning to pursue the Rays...

Wrong. It would eat at the corporate dollars too, which is very very important.

Exactly. Between the Preds, Titans and even to a small extent the Commodores and Sounds, the corporate dollars are spread pretty thin as it is. This is not a large market and until Nashville grows a bit more and these teams are all sitting fat and happy there doesn't need to be another pro team in Nashville.

No link but I read that by 2025 or something the population will increase by by 900,000. Maybe after numbers like that maybe but adding three franchises in nearly a decade would be such a crippling move all around.

edit: the population of Nashvulle

$30 million guaranteed.

Surprised no one posted anything about his comments on Twitter yesterday regarding the fans. I was completely indifferent to his contract dispute till then...

Said Johnson on Twitter: “Can these fake Titan fans **** on my timeline I don’t have a regular job so don’t compare me to you and I can care less if uthink I’m greedy”
Quote:
Johnson followed up his “fake Titans fans” tweet with a couple more later in the day:

“If you was a real fan my tweet would not bother you it only make the fake fans upset.”

“My titan fans taking it all wrong I’m talking to the ones writing me racist Comments. I’m not call the Titan fans fake at all. #LUV”
http://blogs.tennessean.com/titans/2...e-titans-fans/

Don't know why they edited it, but the **** was "****" in the original tweet. I think we can all figure out what that means...

Didn't realize **** was edited out here too...

The original tweet was "Shut The **** Up" abbreviated.

I tweeted back at him (never expecting or wanting a response):

"REAL fans cheer for the name on the front of the jersey, not the letters on the back. You are 1 of 53. You are NOT the team."

That pretty much summed up my feelings and I moved on with my day...

To be honest, I'm glad it's blocked here. One less thing to monitor...

If he had said "my" real fans, I think I'd have remained indifferent. But when he said fake "Titans" fans, he put himself ahead of the team and that caught my ire. Who knows if he read it, doubt it sunk in, it was re-tweeted nearly a dozen times by people...

I would have traded him. Running backs just aren't worth that much in today's NFL.

Maybe CJ will spend some of that money on learning how to spell or make coherent tweet. I look at his contract as partial backpay and payment towards the future...is he worth it....guess as long as someone signs the check and makes the contract.
