Bob would've been a holdout had the Kings signed Brad Richards.

All right Kings, you're on notice. Two years to win the cup.

It will be a sad day when Bob hangs it up. I cant remember the Kings with out him and Im 43. He is one of the greats. I would hope his replacement would be Gary Thorne.

I guess that this was just an honorary contract...

It probably didn't have any particular compensation stated on that lifetime contract, so he'd still have to sign contracts that specify compensation and schedules and whatnot. If it is a "real" contract, it's probably just a guarantee that he'll always have employment with the organization in some fashion if he so desires.

That's somewhat what it means. It means that he would never be replaced as long as he wanted the job. There is no such thing as a lifetime contract. He still needs a legal contract. It is a gesture of reassurance towards Miller recognizing his immense value and contribution to the franchise by letting him know that they will always offer him his contract renewal as long as he wants it.

Both Bob and Nick are great. But I do think Nick has been waiting patiently for a long time and deserves a few years to himself on TV after Bob is gone. Hope it works out that way.

I like both their styles. I realize a bit part is familiarity but I cringe a lot when I hear non-Kings broadcasts thinking, "How the F did these guys get this job?"

I'd rather be struggling in the "Smythe" with Bob than win the Presidents' Trophy.

Keep him forever.

this! haha.

I love bob. such a great guy with so much character. I definitely feel like we've got the best out there. all the idiosyncrasies are almost icing on the cake for me as opposed to irksome.

so glad he's sticking around.
