At mid-morning on Friday, the boys proceeded to the chapel for a scheduled School Meeting. Things seemed routine enough, but as they filed into the chapel, the Stanley Cup DVD was playing, with highlights of the Bruins dramatic victory showing overhead. It did not take much to figure out that something special was about to happen. Then, from the back of the chapel, former varsity hockey coach Ken Martin walked down the aisle, with Lord Stanley's Cup overhead.
Well well, who should show up at chapel but Cam Neely to address the assembly (video)
Mr. Neely talked to the boys about the Stanley Cup victory, and stressed that when building a team it is often character and integrity that distinguish the best players.
I, for one, am shocked that Charlie's spaghetti arms were able to lift the Cup.
The picture of the cop holding it (3rd one down) is awesome. His face is priceless.
I forgot to post the story link, here's the quote from that guy:
For Wellesley Patrolman Mark Carrasquillo who played defense on hockey teams from mites, to Natick High School and Westfield State University, the experience was something he may have dreamed of, but never believed would happen.
“The let me hold it, he said. “I never, ever thought I’d get to hold the cup.”
Apparently Milan Lucic of the Boston Bruins showed up at Mary Ann's last night with the Stanley Cup. According to some people at the bar, he was doing free jager shots with the BC kids, and a merry old time was had by all
