hey guys, i was wondering if anyone has any ideas on how i can watch the rangers at my school. The basic cable i have at my apartment used to have msg but they got rid of it a few years ago, so center ice and gamecenter blacks out all rangers games. I dont really want to spend 50$ a month for direct tv and don't want to watch choppy streams. Someone recommended the slingbox, does anyone know anything about it? or any other suggestions?

The slingbox is a great method if you have a good internet connection.
I have a slingbox, but the internet connection in my apartment up in Buffalo is crap. I put up with it sophomore year (freshman year it wasn't a problem in the dorms because that internet was insane) but junior year and now senior year I will be buying center ice again.
In your situation if you have a good internet feed and can hook the slingbox up at your parents house or a friends house with MSG HD then I'd say that's your best bet.

Yes sir. As long as they tune into the game, you'll get a great quality feed.
can someone please explain to me what a "slingbox" is?
Now I dont have the problem of watching rangers games as I have IO cable and I also have the capabilities to record the game, but does a "slingbox" do other things?
Where would one get one from and how much do they run?

I am sorry. I am not a techie really
A slingbox lets you watch TV over the internet on a remote computer (or a local computer, but that wouldn't make much sense considering you could watch it on the TV. )
You hook it up to your cable box and run an Ethernet cable into your router (It has no Wi-Fi from what I know).
Download the free slingplayer software on your computer and configure it using the setup assistant and enjoy.
You can also control your cable with a virtual remote controller built in to the slingplayer software.
I have Slingbox. I was away in vacation in Atlantic City last year, so I tethered my iPhone's internet to my MacBook to watch a couple Ranger games in the hotel room. Good thing I did because one of those games was the one towards the end of the regular season when they came back from being down 3-0. I would have been PISSED if I would have missed that game.
It worked surprisingly well tethered to AT&T's 3G data.

Shhh! Never utter the "t" word!
But seriously, I hear that AT&T is monitoring that stuff now.
