Just because Schenn is more of a defensive defenseman than Doughty, doesn't automatically mean he's better defensively.

Leafs would be incredibly stupid not to take the that deal.

If the Leafs DON'T take that deal, Burke needs to be fired.

This thread is ridiculous. Schenn and Kulemin are nice players, but if you can consolidate two players like that into an elite young guy like Doughty you do it every time.

You're taking a hell of a lot more than a tiny step forward.

Vincent Lecavalier
Teddy Purcell
Carter Ashton
Brett Connolly
4 first round picks

So unless something similar to that is coming the Kings way, don't expect the Kings to move him.

Interesting to see that no kings fans feel that the original trade proposal would be a good trade but some TOR fans as well as other fans feel that it's a great trade for TOR.

We'd have to trade our key forwards such as Kulemin (30 goals), Grabovski (29 goals), etc. And who'd fill in those spots? Joey Crabb, Mike Zigomanis? It doesn't make sense for Toronto to trade for defense, looking at our roster our d looks good to go into the season.

Okay, I can honestly understand this argument. If the price is too much for Doughty to make the trade worthwhile, I can understand that.

If the argument is that Kulemin and Schenn is greater value, then I disagree.

But I almost woke up my girlfriend from laughing at the other poster's assertion that Doughty wouldn't be on your top pairing.

Felt the same way when someone said Milan Michalek is a better d-man than Schenn. Then when he realized he screwed up the name's but still said Zybnek Michalek is better than Schenn I almost lost it.

I look at Toronto's roster and it reminds me of how our Kings roster looked 10 years ago. A few real good players that could quite possibly have star years in Phanuef, Kessel, Kulemin etc (Palffy, Allison, Visnovsky) as well as a few nice young promising players Schenn, Kadri, etc (Frolov, Brown) and add in your mix of UFA vets that everyone will hope gets you over the top.

I think that T.O will be in a quagmire like L.A was until they do a true teardown like L.A did and build through draft picks, and the right complimentry UFA's and trades when the time s right. Patience and more suffering would be key words for the next 5 years but they have the young players that are building blocks, just missing that key ingrediant Superstar (Kopitar/Doughty) which can hopefully be found in a top 5 pick.

The timing is not quite right to gut the team in a Doughty or Kopitar trade. We kings know that through our past experience.

Kings would never do this, Leafs would do this in a heartbeat.
