According to my minifeed, ND embarrassed themselves.

I liked watching Virginia Tech have an easy first game for once. It makes the start of the season much less stressful.

Notre Dame is so much fun when they lose.

Auburn narrowly avoided becoming the first defending National Champ in over a decade to lose their first game of the season.

The last was Florida State in 2000.

Here's to hoping my Herd can rally and get some revenge for the heartbreaker last year in Huntington (which i still take blame for). For that to happen, we need to stop leaving our terrible CBs in single coverage

How do people feel about the BCS around here as opposed to a playoff system. I'm usually in the minority when I say that I like the way things are right now.

It didn't effect their joy yesterday.

College football is a mess off the field. On the field, it is as exciting a game as exists. No system is ideal. Even if somehow four teams made a Final Four type tourney, how would the four be determined? A fifth team might be the fourth's equal and have cause to gripe. Ultimately, there might be eight super conferences of 16 teams (or whatever) and each winner makes a Final 8 tourney. The shifts in conferences we have seen are probably just the beginning. If OK and three others, as rumored, head west, that could be the first 16-team Conference.

Yeah, I feel like there is no real way to set up a workable playoff system. Also, with the amount of teams in FBS, it would become sort of a "race to the bottom" type-deal when it comes to scheduling, even more so than it is now. Unless they set up these super conferences, teams would benefit more from being in a worse conference if it was a system like the bball uses where every conference winner gets in. Not to mention the with the small amount of games that are played depending on the playoff system involved, a 6-6 team could waltz into the playoffs and potentially win it all. This IMO is worse than having a 12-0 team on the outside looking in.

Because of the way the BCS system works, I really don't care about who comes out on top anymore. It is kind of nice, because it means if my team loses a couple games I don't get as outraged and bothered as some people do.

Less important: Notre Dame lost.

More important: USF won!
