Lines sans Crosby

Based on the latest information, it seems fairly unlikely that Sid will be in the line-up to start the season. Given that, what are we thinking for lines?

Neal-Malkin-Sullivan
Kunitz-Staal-Kennedy
Cooke-Jeffrey-Dupuis
Asham-Letestu-Adams

I really like that line-up and think its more then capable to put up like a .650 win percentage.

I agree that's a great lineup. I'd also be intrigued to see this bottom 6:

Jeffrey - Letestu - Dupuis
Asham - Adams - Cooke

Gives us a chance to see Jeffrey on the wing and might be a solid scoring line while still defensively responsible. The 4th line then is hard hitting, aggressive, and great defensively. I see the benefits of both lineups.

I like that 3rd line with Letestu, Jeffrey, and Dupuis all on it. Very well rounded.

Solid lineup. Also keep in mind that there's still the possibility of Tangradi crack the roster.

Our biggest concern right now is making sure that we don't get hit with the injury bug the same way we did last season. If the core of this roster can stay healthy this season then we can easily clinch a top 4 seed, with or without Sid there. Here's to hoping for career years for Kennedy, Staal, and Neal as well.

Here's the line up I want to see come Playoff time:

Neal-Crosby-Sullivan
Kunitz-Staal-Malkin
Jeffrey-Letestu-Kennedy
Cooke-Adams-Asham/Dupuis
--Tangradi on deck

Martin-Michalek
Orpik-Letang
(Trade Deadline Deal)-Niskanen/Engelland/Lovejoy (whoever is playing best)

Fleury
--Johnson

I'd like to hope DB sees the wisdom in giving tangradi a spot in the top 9 to replace Rupp's physicality on the forecheck. The guy may not be ready to put up top six numbers but his size can be used to our benefit at ES and on the PP. Moving Cooke down to the 4th makes sense imo as he will benefit from being given limited ES minutes so he can better transition into a cleaner style of hitting.

Neal-Malkin-Sullivan
Kunitz-Staal-Kennedy
Jeffrey-Letestu-Tangradi
Cooke-Adams-Dupuis

That's a hell of a good fourth line: possibly better than the third. That's good, we could easily roll 4 lines with the 4th getting about the same time as the third, or even more depending on the game situation.

Knowing DB and how he trusts Adams, that line will get 10+ ES minutes a night.

I'm really liking all these lineups being put on here. Pens have crazy depth and they aren't even close to playing yet let alone adding at the deadline.

If it's coming out of the third line's ice time I don't have a problem with it. Cooke and Dupuis are the best players in that bottom 6 until that third line proves otherwise.

I would like more than anything to have this lineup to start the season.

However I'm 'afraid' we will see:

Neal-Malkin-Sullivan
Kunitz-Staal-Kennedy
Cooke-Jeffrey-Dupuis
Adams-Letestu-Asham

Staal-Malkin-Tangradi
Neal-Jeffrey-Sullivan
Kunitz-Letestu-Kennedy
Cooke-Adams-Dupuis/Asham

Just tried to throw together lines if Staalingrad was the first line.

Neal - Malkin - Kunitz
Jeffrey - Staal - Sullivan
Dupuis - Letestu - Kennedy
Cooke - Adams - Asham

I think this gives us pretty decent depth, with our first two lines still looking good

Not quite sure what to say about that one...

With Crosby

Kunitz-Crosby-Sullivan
Neal-Malkin-Kennedy
Cooke-Staal-Dupuis
Asham-Letestu-Adams

Without Sid

Neal-Malkin-Sullivan
Kunitz-Staal-Kennedy
Jeffrey-Letestu-Dupuis
Cooke-Adams-Asham

I like it
I could see Dupuis get some time in Sullivan's place (both during the regular season and playoffs) to keep him fresh
the second line would tear it up.
Kennedy gets to remain the offensive catalyst of his own line on the third.

If we are in fact Sid-less to start the season we still have a very strong roster as you listed. And that is still a very good top line, not great, but very good. And a solid 6, I'm just still hopeful that if we are without Sid it will only be for the first 10-15 games of the season of which the team is still clicking and getting used to knew strategy/tactic applied during "full speed", so I'm not worried for our team regardless. Indeed the team is much more powerful with Sid on ice, but without I'm not worried about missing the post season. Baring a repeat of last season where both Geno and Sid are gone we will see the post season again.

Switching things up a bit, for the first few games of the season before assuming despres would be sent to the ahl I would like to see these d pairs to start the season...

Orpik - Letang
Martin - Z
Lovejoy - Despres

I'd like to see Lovejoy paired with Despres to give him a regular season NHL sample because he out of the two of Engo and him makes less mistakes. Both are bottom pairers but Lovejoy seems to make leas mistakes while being boring and Engo makes bigger hits along with some brain farts.

And this is all under the assumption he will be sent down, he very well could out of camp earn a spot... I'm just going off of best placed assumption right now. If he does make the team rotate him, LJ, and Engo out with whom has the better legs at he time per game.

No thanks.
