Ryan Johansen Expectations

What are your expectations for Ryan Johansen for the upcoming season and the near future?

Do you see him becoming a 70 point guy in the next 2-4 years?

i personally don't have any expectations for the kid...I want him to succeed and be an integral part of this team...this year, next year...whenever...I just want a 1st round lottery pick (not named rick nash) of ours to do well

Likewise for me. I have no expectations of Johansen this season. I don't even care if he doesn't set foot on Columbus ice. I just want a blue chipper to be developed properly (not rushed) and to perform like a first rounder should (not become a third line player) once he gets here.

CBJ fans have learned to curb expectations. Anything else just leads to heartache.

How's your pool looking? Must be a keeper league.

This year? He will either make the team in a top-6 role and put up 55+ points ... or be sent back to junior after 9 games to further his development.

70 point player in the future? Possibly ... he has the skill, size, and drive ... soon? Don't bank on it.

My expectations are:

He will be back in Juniors, or

He will stick with the Jackets.

Well, if you look through the lineups thread, you'll see a bunch penciling him in on the team already. Unless he shows more then he did at prospects camp, i'd rather him return to juniors

I would be quite shocked if Johansen was not on the opening day roster. Might be a little demoralizing for a kid who has already proven that he has little to learn in the WHL that he has to go back there.

400th time this question has been asked? Might as well create a sticky.. :p

There should be none, zero, nada, expectations.

If this is fantasy questions, wait for camp... :p

I expect him to be a complete bust, then if he's not, I'll be happy.

Haha - Everyone is just playing it low-key so we can all feign like we won't be crushed to have another much-touted prospect not quite deliver. Truth is probably more along the lines of most cbj fans want to be ecstatic about the possibility we chose well and will develop well but we make ourselves out to be victims (you know, traumatized by the past) and so will put on a front that it isn't a big deal. I imagine the off season acquisitions help that along a bit since we have other places to pour the guarded optimism.

Depending on Arniel I would say third scoring line center for nine games then ????

lol, that's quite a high bar you've set for him there. Not a complete bust is the alternative....

As an outsider looking in, I expect Johansen to, at minimum, get his 9 games. I feel he'll play well enough that he'll stick with the club in a top 9 role and go on to be a ROY candidate. I could see a very good year out of RyJo.. he's really a top top prospect.

Hopefully he has the type of year that Couture has had but I would be happy with about 30-40 points and being a PP contributor.

Probably at least 100 pts and the Hart. Hopefully he won't get too discouraged with those numbers he is only a rookie and will most likely improve a lot on them.
