So i don't follow boxing, baseball and football because i speak french first? brillant.
BTW as An Anglo Montrealer. When I'm MAD, I'm Mad as a City as a whole!... I hope I inspired you to be MAD at me....Always be MAD & then take that to NYC... & Fight!
what about a bilingual sports radio station -- where they can switch to french or english based on comfort level, callers, guests etc...
target it to younger listeners -- who are generally more bilingual ...
advantage : it's cool, bigger market, it be richer in content and it could attract the most talented in either language!
I'm god damn too ****ing smart for my own good... i know!!!!
When I use to listen to Team990, Tony did take francophone callers on the rare occasion. I don't think it's a matter of not taking the calls, but francophone callers being hesitant to call an English broadcast.

but they wouldn't be hesitant, cause they'd speak in french.. it's their preference.
for those that are not bilingual, it could be a bit of a pain.
but most people i think are capable of understanding what they listen to... so it shouldn't be an issue.... they can always speak their language of choice when they call.
the main hurdle is the legal one -- would the crtc permit a bilingual sports station?

Never be on Marinaro's show at all...He is like Europe...
And a listener, never be afraid to talk to the English, in Montreal we like that you try. Hell were here for a reason! You'll feel great after you do! It's OK ...It's Montreal... & we all speak French.
When you get nervous the 1st time.."dit en français la premiere fois."
After that you will get more comfortable, hey were all on the same team..
Most percentage don't. Some in Montreal do, but not enough... Let Me ask you a question, do you and your friends get together on weekend to watch NCAA Basketball & Football? BIG 10-12? Gonzaga?
If half the energy was into more sports & less trying to change names of BIG BOX store names...... Let me tell you!
I'm just not surprised it failed, but the main talk will still be available on other stations En Francais. It just couldn't be covered 24/7, like in English. No dis respect at all.
You're talking as if not following sports during the freaking summer was a bad thing... what the hell man? Go enjoy the warmth tabarnacle!
I'm sooooooo excited about the new station! Traffic reports 24/7? Hell yeah!!! Only a few hours to go!
Kinda wished they'd kept some of CKAC's staff on board, though...
Ron Fournier: "Le pont Champlain ce soir? Pas pire, pas pire, pas pire..."
Rodger Brulotte: (when a exit ramp falls off) "Bonsoir, elle est partie!"
Jacques Demers: "L'auto-to-to-to-route qua-qua-qua-qua-rante ouesse est bl-bl-blo-bloq..." (stutters and mumbles fo 30 minutes) "Oups! Cé-cé-cé circu-cu-cu-lation fluide, comme dans ma cou-cou... ma cou-cou... ma couche!"
JC Lajoie: "..." (insert senseless neverending rant about anything here, traffic-related or not)
I'm kinda miffed that Villeneuve still has his own show, but hey, from 6:30 pm to 11:30 pm we get a remnant of CKAC.
Hell, Ron's show is basically unchanged
As long as we get still McGuire's and Dubé's pre and post-game half hours, I can live with this. Nothing like cooking with the pre-game show, then switching to the game on RDS while eating, then back to the radio while cleaning up.

Hahahaha.
The dishes, the pots and pans, ect. When my food is done I just want to eat, not clean up right away. So I do it after the game while listening to the radio to make it less dull.
