Would not like this one bit. It's gotta be Pronger, Briere, and Timonen.

Yeah let's give the A to a player with a one year contract.

Just add Jagr to the mix. One set of A's for home and one for away. Pronger with the C.

Jagr played better (offensively) in NY with the A. Maybe that'll spark him for you guys in Philly.

He has to earn it through camp, practice, and preseason.

Then again, from day 1 he's been awfully coddled, from that contract, to Nylander, etc.

Lettering in the Nhl is pretty overrated imo.

You don't need a letter to know that clarke, poulin, primeau were captains.

When you have a player like jagr's caliber you have to assuage his ego with a letter etc. It shows respect and it shows class.

Pronger doesn't need a letter at all on his jersey and we all know that he is the locker room leader.

didn't Timonen, Pronger, and Carter all wear an A last year? It could be Timonen, Briere, and Jagr this year

Jagr wearing an A wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. He's a veteran guy that's one of the best players of all time. He's been captain twice before also. As long as One of Pronger, Kimmo, or Briere is captain while the others alternate an A with Jagr I'd be happy

Jagr can be a bit of a diva even if he'll never admit it or you'll never hear about it when it comes to things like this. One of the major reasons there was a falling out in New York is he felt that he should be the highest paid player, and I don't think it was all about money but a matter of respect I guess?

He performs well with a letter and I bet it might go to his head if he doesn't get one.

Might do you better to just give him the letter and be done with it.

I'm not all that surprised. All Jagr's talk of "they showed me that they wanted me" really sounded like captainship to me.

I dont think it's that big a deal. Pronger will have the C. Timonen will have the A. Briere will have a letter at home, and Jagr on the road.

Not too out there, imo. Having a letter is overrated anyways. It just comes down to being a leader and you dont need a patch on your jersey to make you one.

One part of me says that any player who has been a captain of a team deserves to wear a letter... but another part of me clearly sees that a player must earn the letter on that roster and there has to be competition and the understanding that a player has the opportunity to prove to the coach that he deserves to have a letter... That said, dues must be paid and time put in, and a couple years as an unlettered leader in the Leadership Group is not too much to ask. Giroux is a prime example to me and next season JvR would join him as an unlettered leader as the ex-captains get closer to hanging them up.

I can see Pronger wih the 'C' and Kimmo & Briere with an 'A' with Jagr being next in line when injury/suspension calls for one... But I can also see Jagr alternating with a home and way rotation.

The leadership group could consist of them plus Giroux, Mesz and Talbot/Hartnell depending how big Lavy wants it... And certainly Lappy would be in the mix if he were on the active roster, IMO.
