New info on the Cujo-Boston "trade"

Toronto's Globe and Mail had some fascinating information on what the proposed deal was between Boston and Detroit over the summer.

The report says Joseph would be traded to Boston for a second round pick.

It says the Wings would have picked up $2-million in salary (leaving MOC on the hook for $6-million). But here's the real kicker: After one season, if the Bruins didn't want to keep him...Detroit would have re-assumed his rights. (Presumably, protection in case Hasek is only back for one season).

So in essence, it could have been a loan as much as a trade. Very interesting and creative, if it's true.

That would have been a good move for both teams IMO. Not that Potvin was a horrible pickup, but CuJo is, IMO, an upgrade ove him.

A very creative attempt that I imagine the NHL would try and block some how.

goalie rental

The Bs do have an extra second round pick (from the Stumpel deal).
I'm glad they didn't squander it on 'goalie rental' because this upcoming rookie draft looks halfway decent in the highest rounds.
