The plane crashed in Yaroslavl with the hockey team "Lokomotiv" on board

At the airport Tunoshna takeoff crashed Yak-42 with a team of hockey club "Lokomotiv", carrying out a charter to Minsk. Total on board were 37 people, while aware of only one surviving. On-site lifeguard.

On board was a major part of the hockey team "Lokomotiv". As eyewitnesses to the blast site, the plane is a pile of burnt iron. Survivors are likely to be a little bit.

After looking into their roster from wikipedia, there are many old NHLers such as Pavol Demitra, Ruslan Salei, Josef Vasicek and Karlis Skrastins.

This is big news and saddens this offseason even more.

RIP

A very sad day.. :/

I think this is probably best roster set-up out there: http://www.eliteprospects.com/team.php?team=191

Some sources say though, that the entire team was not in the plane.. I don't know if it's a translation mishap or a fact.. terrible news either way.

With poor flying safety in Russia I have always feared this will eventually happen. Now it happened.

This is the worst blow to Russian hockey ever. And even a bigger blow for the KHL. How is the KHL going to get over this? One of the best teams and best organisations wiped out.

This is awful. I don't remember ever hearing about an entire team disappearing like this. One of my favorite ex-LA Kings is among them in Pavol Demitra. Also, looking at their roster there are quite a few names that I recognize and remember from their NHL or IIHF competition days.

If any of you who read Russian hear about any sort of charity style Lokomotiv merchandise being sold, let me know. I'd definitely be interested in buying some to support a memorial fund for the victims families.
