After looking into their roster from wikipedia, there are many old NHLers such as Pavol Demitra, Ruslan Salei, Karel Rachunek, Josef Vasicek and Karlis Skrastins.
This is big news and saddens this offseason even more.
With poor flying safety in Russia I have always feared this will eventually happen. Now it happened.
This is the worst blow to Russian hockey ever. And even a bigger blow for the KHL. How is the KHL going to get over this? One of the best teams and best organisations wiped out.
This is awful. I don't remember ever hearing about an entire team disappearing like this. One of my favorite ex-LA Kings is among them in Pavol Demitra. Also, looking at their roster there are quite a few names that I recognize and remember from their NHL or IIHF competition days.
If any of you who read Russian hear about any sort of charity style Lokomotiv merchandise being sold, let me know. I'd definitely be interested in buying some to support a memorial fund for the victims families.

The Marshall crash is the only thing that comes to mind. Terrible tragedy.
