I'm going on a run...and a helluva lot less inclined to ***** about anything afterwards. Life puts life in perspective sometimes.

Rumors say Ruslan Salei was already in Minsk waiting for the rest of the team to arrive.

And that just barely, it seems. Poor guy will have some horrific injuries from this, both physically and emotionally. I can't imagine the survivor's guilt from losing all of your teammates at once.

I'm hoping that's true. Any life that can be spared out of this terrible tragedy is a blessing.

Several NHL players will be strongly affected by this too, they definitely had good friends and former teammates on board the flight. I know Zharkov and Vasyunov were close, Tedenby played for HV71 with Stefan Liv, and so on.

Just came home and found out.

I`m crying. Demo Vasyunov, three Czech World champions. This is beyond awful. I still can`t believe what happened. Just can`t.

Soviet hockey club VVS died in plane crash back to 1951. Legendary Vsevolod Bobrov missed the plane and survived.

Pavol Demitra is by far the biggest name on that team. Always loved watching that guy play, would tune into Blues games on Center Ice just to see him when he was in his prime.

I've heard that flying in Russia isnt as safe as many developed nations. Aging, tiring fleet and subpar maintenance etc... Not that that may have had anything to do in this tragedy, but is so, the deets will surely come out eventually.

EDIT: IF (big if) Wikipedia can be believed, this is the 9th crash of this type of plane out of 178 total built, which at 5% seems pretty high. Also wouldnt be the first takeoff crash.
