From what I`ve heard it doesn`t look like a technical error. Just saying.
I read that the plane couldn't get altitude and crashed into a beacon. Sounds like it to me, but reports tend to get exaggerated at times like these.

RIP. This is heart breaking. I hate to say it but I can't wait for hockey to start to get my mind off of all this tragedy.

Why couldn't it gain altitude? Just a few hundred feet higher (a climb that should take two seconds) because it's a POS. **** it.

Feel absolutely numb hearing this news. RIP Vasyunov, Rachunek and every other person on board today's plane.

Nothing was reported by the pilot. But who knows at this point.

Really at a loss for words about this whole thing. Terrible tragedy. RIP to everyone involved.

This off-season sucks. I'm tired of constant sad news.

This is what the NHL would do if a tragedy of this magnitude happened to one of their clubs:

Lou Lamoriello: "Nothing could prepare the hockey community for the devastating news ... [This] has left all of us beyond words."

“I had the pleasure of knowing several members of the team, plus the entire coaching staff. In particular, Alexander Vasyunov, who played for us last season, was an outstanding young man and a gifted athlete. Captain Karel Rachunek skated for us in 2007-08. Both were members of the Devils’ family. On behalf of the entire Devils' organization, our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and loved ones of the entire Lokomotiv club."

Otherwise I agree.
Sure. That confirms what I said not changes it. Designed during Soviet era, manufactured just after -- let's face it, even TODAY Russia isn't some modern Western Republic. They're almost a joke of a country where the secret police now wear suits and pretend to be fairly elected officials whilst they've stolen and sold all of the nation's wealth to each other. There are still no concerns for people, human rights, worker rights, or regulatory bodies to ensure safety etc.

TG;

“I can’t say enough about him,” an emotional Lamoriello said of Vasyunov. “He was going there (to the KHL) just to improve game. He was looking forward to coming back to play here in the NHL. He was just a fantastic kid. Respectful. You can’t say enough about him. He spent the summer here last year. He just wanted to go and play a lot and come back here. I had a long conversation with him before he left.”

Well, you said 35+, so that`s why I responded.

That`s all true. We`re just a small country but far ahead in many regards. But let`s not talk politics in here.

Morbid to think about, but I guess it's good that there's a contingency plan. Maybe the KHL will do something similar for Lokomotiv.

There have been so many conflicting reports on this, it's crazy. I hope this is true and he is alright.

No one knows. They're working on it. Will take at least a week, I'd guess. They should delay the start of the season. This is ****.

"Not confirmed dead" is more accurate. Hate to be a pessimist but they're still seeking 6 bodies. Hopefully he's alive

ugh, I was in a good mood too, jacked up with fresh coffee, whole wheat bagels and with the comfort that the season is like 4 weeks away and the hopes that when I come here, the stories become more relevant and pertinent to the upcoming season.
