Memorial for Vasyunov/Rachunek/Lokomotiv at the Rock (Friday 9/9/11 5 PM)

The least we could do for Vasy is set up a little memorial at the Prudential Center to show how much we appreciate him.

Flowers, candles, signs, etc. would be great. I don't want this to get lost in the official thread so let's keep this one up so people could post when they could make it. Let's try to organize somethig for tidy or tomorrow. Maybe people have ideas about where we can do it at the Pru too.

Anyways just post some thoughts and when we could get something done...

EDIT: I'll be going to the Rock tomorrow. I plan on getting there around 5 and hope others can make it at that time. If another time is better for people, that would be okay. I just put this to get the ball rolling.

I'm hoping Lou sets aside a corner of the Rock for a permanent memorial of some kind.

That would be nice but fans gathering and just doing something themselves seems so much more meaningful. Idk just my opinion.

I would advise maybe a memorial for not only just Vas, but the whole Lokomotiv team. Rachunek didn't play for the Devils as long as Vas he was still part of our family. This would mean a lot to the players for the Devils that played with or were friends with some of the other players on the Lokomotiv team.

I can have my mom bring flowers and candles for me since I'm in Vermont. If you guys could post when you do this so I can alert her that would be great.

I would do it either near the player entrance or somewhere in Championship Plaza, maybe by the statue?

Sounds like a great idea. cj can the generals contact the Devils community somehow so that everyone can know about this?

Great idea. Put down a flower from me, if it's not too inconvenient.

I wish the kid would have made the Devils, this way he'd still be with us. I figured a couple seasons at most he would have been back. May you make God's hockey team.

I agree. I fully support your idea. Can`t do anything about it though.

Whoever is close to Newark, please come. Fans all around the world has already done this. We just have to. Especially because we`re THE ONLY NHL team that lost current player /kinda, he was still our property and from Lou`s comments ready to come back after a year/.

It`s not about Lou, it`s about you/us.

EDIT: Generals have to be involved, I agree.

I put it out there, I'm not sure how far they'll let it go. I would just do it, maybe you can take some pictures and then we can tweet about it and put it on FB so people know.

It's easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission I've found.

If I was in NJ I could start this. Could someone please go down there and start a memorial at the statue in championship plaza? I will make sure stuff from me gets there.

Unfortunately I can't start it, but the minute I see something there and someone posts a picture, I will start spreading the word and we'll let social media do the talking.

If someone stopping by the Rock was to put this picture there for me I'd be appreciative.

AZN I'll take that pic.

Anyways, I hope it's a little more organized an we can all show up around the same time. If not I'd definitely go there alone.

I thought I'd feel better today but it still hurts.

Thanks. And I don't think a lot of people feel any better today. It's gonna take a while to get over this.

If we can organize a group to be there around the same time you could take a picture and give it to cj. Then she could put it tweet it and put it on facebook to attract more people to bring things.

Read through this thread and I just wanted to say thank you to the guys and girls planning on going down to start a memorial. If anything... it means a lot to me... a fellow Devils fan.

If we could set up a picture of Vas, and maybe a picture to acknowledge the whole team (Lokomotiv), as a centerpiece for people to bring flowers and such I think that would be really nice.
