As a fairly recent convert to the Rangers (last year) I readily admit I will not be as informed as the majority on here but I would go with:

C - Callaghan

A - Staal
A - Dubinsky
A - Prust (although I may be bias as he is my favourite player and I have his #8 jersey).

Richards is obvious A material, but you should earn it with what you do at your current club. Prust keeps teams honest, does a lot of the dirty work for the Rangers and has come on a lot. Giving him a letter would show others what can be achieved with hard work and dedicated.

Welcome aboard I think that what you said is pretty much consensus for the first 3. I'd love to see Prust get the A as it is very well deserved, but I doubt he will, mainly because most teams don't run with 3 A's, and also because I think a guy like Richards would get it first (although I personally think it'd be better if he didn't).

Is that the only thing that Girardi haters can parrot? The dude makes one mistake, which is debatable as to if its even a mistake, and he gets crucified. The dude plays tons of minutes, and is a hit and blocking machine. Girardi is a warrior, plain and simple.

Oh, and BTW, take off your homer glasses. Gaborik started that fight with Carcillo. He dropped the gloves 1st and got his ass handed to him. It's his own fault for dropping the gloves with a 4th liner and well-known scum bag.

Girardi would have gotten a game misconduct for jumping in. From the NHL Rulebook:
Quote:
46.16 Third Man In - A game misconduct penalty, at the discretion of the Referee, shall be imposed on any player who is the first to intervene (third man in) in an altercation already in progress except when a match penalty is being imposed in the original altercation. This penalty is in addition to any other penalties incurred in the same incident.
I was angry at him as well after that happened, but after watching it again and trying to be impartial, what was he supposed to do? You should be angry at Gaborik for being so stupid. What is our 1st line sniper and injury magnet doing fighting a dirty scrub? Pure idiocy.

Dubinsky is a leader and a face of this team.

He's been a top producer and leader in ice time for the last couple of seasons.

Just because he isn't politically correct and speaks his mind, doesn't mean he's immature like some here think.

Fact is Tortorella relies heavily on Dubinsky in every situation. Same as he does with Callahan and Staal.

Its their team. Along with Lundqvist, who isn't getting a letter for the simple fact he can't be skating to the officials' circle after a whistle.

As far as skaters go, Callahan, Staal, and Dubinsky are the face of this team.

Richards will have enough pressure on him as it is. He doesn't need a letter and added pressure. Let him play his game, lead quietly behind the scenes, and get Gaborik going, while focusing on performing on the ice.

Callahan, Staal, and Dubinsky have been here, proven themselves here, put their dues in, proven they can perform here, and are looked to as leaders.

Dubinsky is still pretty immature I am willing to bet he doesn't get an A.

Dude I love girardi. I am defiantly not a girardi hater. He is indeed a warrior. I was simply questioning why people think he would be a better fit to wear the A over Dubinsky and gave the first example that came to mind. Some of you guys take other peoples opinions to heart too much.

I RUDDY love Brandon Prust. I came over for some games last year and was so impressed I went to the NHL shop and got his jersey. Although the guys in the shop were fairly baffled when I ask for it and they had to get it printed up overnight.

Only saw one other fan in the Garden with a #8 Prust on. Hope there will be more next time I come over!

#NYRangers captain announcement coming up shortly. We (I) have all speculated on the candidates - Cally, Staal, Richards. Dubi outside shot.

As suspected, it's Ryan Callahan. Marc Staal and Brad Richards get the As.

Don't think you can go wrong with those.
All good choices, IMO.

Not surprised at all about the C or the A's. Richards had to get one.

Anyone else somewhat surprised that Dubinsky didn't get the other A?

I hope Callahan takes what Drury did with the C and does the complete opposite.

Well, we can hope that they plan to keep Callahan past his current contract... 3 years is far too short a time.

I personally feel its a mistake not giving Dubinsky an A and giving one to Richards who hasn't earned it in a Rangers sweater yet.

But whatever.

EARN IT, Richards. That's all I can say.

Let's go Rangers!!!

Not really... I think giving Staal the A (or letting him keep it, didn't he have it last year?) gives you that "leader on defense", and Richards has experience that Dubinsky and Callahan and Staal don't have

I think it works out well. Dubinsky is still a team leader even without a letter
