I have to agree. I'm pretty competitive and never liked the "disarming" aspect of fraternization before and even after...

Quote:
Giroux was asked by NHL.com's Adam Kimelman if he likes meeting other NHL stars at these types of events, and perhaps making a few new buddies.

The answer? Not really.

"It's kind of cool, but at the same time I play against them and don't really like all of them, he said. I guess it's part of the game, you have to go with it. I think when you're on the ice you're not there to make friends."

Mis-leading title much? That suggests Giroux doesn't want to be around his teammates. But, I'd expect nothing less from CSNPhilly.

At first I thought the same but obviously there is still some sensitivity there from the offseason. I'm glad the season is going to start so everybody can start moving on...I hope.

In the era of free agency, international play, etc. you just have to accept off-ice fraternization... unless they're all just going to be a**holes that give up friendships and relationships because of who is playing for whom. It was one thing in a previous era with limited free agency and all that jazz, but just doesn't fly with all the turnover nowadays.

Again... unless you're just going to be an a**hole.

That's the way it should be. If you're not with the Flyers, you're against them. I'm sure the whole team hated Max Talbot prior to July 1. Now he's everyone's best friend. Lord knows I hated him.

I'm sure Giroux isn't being a complete jerk with the fraternization. Sounds like he is cordial but keeps people/the opposition at arms length even if some people believe in keeping both friends and enemies close (enemies even closer). He just seems like he keeps a small circle of friends anyway..just how some people roll with interpersonal relationships. Doesn't mean necessarily they are an ahole. He's got Briere and his kids and I suppose that's enough for him

This is how I would be. Being friends with everybody would dull my chippyness. I'd still be cool with former teammates and coaches and all that though.

Love this...everyone being friends on and off the court is IMO one of the main reasons why the NBA sucks now...no more heated rivalries really.
