Would you draft Sidney Crosby with a top 20 pick?

Even though we all know he's coming back, does he go this early? I'd definitely pick him up in the third round but definitely not with my first/second pick. What do you think?

clearly this must be a one year league...yeah he's worth taking in the second round or later...I doubt he makes it to round 3 personally...likely mid 1st to mid 2nd he'll get drafted

I'd pick him in the 10-20 range.

I don't think he'll make it out of the top 15 and will probably go much earlier in most leagues. Someone will take a gamble on him.

Question: how differently would you draft Crosby in a keeper league? OV-Stamkos-Crosby-Malkin?

top 5 i'd draft in order this season would be Ovechkin, Stamkos, Getzlaf, Backstrom, P.Kane with Giroux and Kopitar right behind them. Malkin post-ACL would've been good for high80's low 90's with a healthy Crosby in the mix...without Crosby he will be maybe 80 points which all of the above will definitely eclipse as well as a few others like Parise, B.Richards, Datsyuk to name a few. Sedins and St.Louis I would value at 80 points this season...not the 90+ like in the past couple seasons so that's the general scope I see. Perry will be 40G-low 80's not 100 again either to put him in perspective with the others.

For sure.

If he plays the second half, could be enough to get you in playoffs... and if he is playing during fantasy playoffs at 100% and you drafted him 10th overall or less...

KA-CHING!!!

Really tough call the closer it gets to the season. A week ago I would have said yes top 10, now not so sure top 20. Then again, he could miss half the season and still put up 60 points. So risky though because he could be one hit and done. I say he'll still go high to someone, but I'd wait on him.

Depends on the format. in a H2H, he's definitely worth it as a return down the stretch and into the "playoffs" (end of the regular season) is when performance matters most.

Still a risk though. Who knows when he'll be back.

I'm drafting in half an hour. Personally I'm a little weary of taking him. Last year I had him and was dominating my league (It was an auto-draft so its a fluke). But eventually his injury made me come 2nd. The guy is money. I think he'll definitely get taken by someone early.

If it's worthy anything I did a mock draft today and someone took him in the 4th round.

In a real draft he went 5th overall, which is much closer to average results I think than dropping a few rounds.

Interesting question. I'll only pick him if he's available in the second round. I need a sure thing with my first pick. He'll most likely be auto-selected by somebody before the 2nd round though.

Exactly, with my second round pick it'd be an automatic for me. You can still get a very good in the later rounds.

I signed up for a Yahoo auction mock draft but wasn't able to take part in it. I was the only human in it so the entire draft was done by auto-select. Crosby didn't get taken until 107th overall and went for only $1

Ya man...you got to let us know what kind of a pool you are talking about???

Is this a keeper pool?
Is this a one year pool?
Does it carry over to the playoffs?

If it is a keeper pool, oh ya...he should go in the top 3.
If it is just for the year without the playoffs...he should be picked around the 13-18 spot.

i get the feeling he will miss at the very least 1/4 of a season, and possibly 1/2. I can see him slipping late 2nd early 3rd and someone grabbing him just to hold on and hope he comes back very soon and goes right back to PPG form.

I wouldn't completely rule out the outside chance he misses the whole season. You never know. The risk is certainly there.
