LOL at MacLean at 30th. We're in year 1 of a rebuild with low expectations. He and the guy that hired him (Murray) both are in year 1 of 3 year contracts. He'll get at least 2 full years to develop the player before being expected to take the team to the next step.
I agree that Julien helped himself with the Stanley Cup win, but in the regular season he was on the edge wasn't it? And if he lost in game 7 vs the habs there's a real chance that he would have gotten fired right?
This is another what have you done for me lately except it's the opposite of what it normally is. He wasn't great in Boston but he managed to pull his team together in the playoffs, during the season I remember seeing a lot of fans who were upset with his decisions.

Yea, I think that if they bowed out to Montreal he might have been looking for a job right now. At the very least he'd be touch and go at the beginning of this season.
However, since they didn't get any terrible bounces against them in that OT and now that he's won the cup, I can't see him getting fired before next off-season, even if Boston blows up and completely misses the playoffs.
The shot at MacLean doesn't bother me in the least- but how do you have Wilson as 2nd most likely? Have you seen the bullets he's already dodged- or rather that Burkie's thrown himself in front of?
He does not have a contract for next season. That does not scream "a very safe job" to me.
Trotz for sure. He's the heart of the Preds. Julien just bought himself years of safety with the cup, but if we lost to Montreal or Philly, he'd be gone by now.
Babcock is safe now, but it's not like he is cemented in Detroit. Two disappointing playoffs and he is not that safe anymore. Even one very bad one could make his feet really wet. Expectations are high in Detroit.
Renney's a lot more safe than people think. I don't think there's any way he'd get fired this season barring some MAJOR setbacks, and it's hard to have a major setback after finishing last two seasons in a row.
I think Dave Tippet's job is quite safe. Phoenix would be very dumb to ever fire him (unless they have a few bottom dwelling seasons). Babcock and Trotz are probably the top 2 safest.
