OT: Edmonton Capitals NABL Champs

Congrats to the Edmonton Capitals who clinched the Championship with a great pitching performance by local boy Lou Pote.

If you haven't gone to a game, great food and sweet merchandise.

It was a great game to watch, though we lost the manager, thrid base coach, and a pitcher in the 8th after the one ump called two balks on the same batter. After the second one fans began throwing beer cans and other stuff on the field.

oh it was a beautiful game. good exciting game and the crowd was great.
loved when people were throwing stuff on the field because that ump deserved it.
all in all a great night. people that are not going to caps games are really missing out.
and ogopogo are you freaking kidding me!?. people being brainwashed by the media to cheer for the blue jays!? haha. maybe the canadian media is paying extra attention to the blue jays because the're the only canadian team? how much attention does american media pay to the blue jays? almost none, why? because they're not american so they don't give a **** so why should we give a **** about american teams?
you're probably one of those nutcases that think western canada should separate from the rest of canada.
haha but have fun cheering for your beloved mariners.

Great game and crowd, especially on a chilly day. After a shaky 1st inning, Pote was dealing the rest of the way through and if that was the last game of his career, it was a gem.

I got a T-Shirt today but it was a youths medium so i gave it to a kid in our section. The Oilers cutout race was hilarious too, Gagner hit a sign and PRV jumped up out of nowhere to tackle Hall for Whitney to get the win

Honestly the argument you made up above sounds like something an 8 year old would say.
LOL.

Based on your spelling I would suggest you are closer to age 8 than I.

If you pick a team based on how many games they win, that is pretty pathetic. You must be a fan of the Yankees, Packers, Red Wings and Lakers. Good job.

Really that's all you got is the spelling. Good one champ!!

No where did I say I pick a team based on wins, I just said your rant must have come from your team going on a terrible losing streak. Or maybe you're pissed off that their field gets invaded by thousands of western Canadian baseball fans.

By why would a western Canadian be a fan of the Jays that you didn't cover, well it really is pretty simple and I'll give you a few reasons:

-They are the only Canadian team in the MLB
-The Canadian content on their team(Lawrie and Loewen come to mind)
-Not to mention that their Canadian players come from western Canada

But really your argument based on location is pretty stupid, basically you are calling out any Oiler fans on this board that reside in the Eastern Canada and the United States. Make a lot of sense right?

Really great atmosphere from the crowd last night, lots of chirping and cheering. Completely lost my voice.

9th inning was actually fantastic, probably only 3000 people there (60% full) but with everyone chanting "Lets go Caps!" it was very loud and very exciting.

It had a helluva lot more to do with championships in the 80s than a tornado cleanup. The mayor at the time tried to paint the name a different color but, without the Stanley Cups and Grey Cups he would never have declared Edmonton the City of Champions. For tornado cleanup? Stupid name if that was the only reason.

You missed my point.

Why the hell would I go on a rant about the Blue Jays as a result of my team having a tough year? Who gives a rats ass if the Blue Jays have won a few more games?

The point is, you and others like you, are Blue Jays fans because of the excessive TV coverage. You have been served up the koolaid all your life and you have taken a big drink. Enjoy being herded like a sheep.

I have no problem with someone being a fan of a distant team. The only issue I am presenting is how so many people are manipulated by CBC, CTV, TSN and SN to be Blue Jays fans. I refuse to be manipulated. Why would I be a fan of some random team 3,000km away? Just because the Toronto media says I should? No thanks. You can keep your team.
