All-Time Legends Team

Since NHL 12 kinda half-assed a legends team by including only a few players, I ask you, HFboards, to finish the team.

Make a legends team with generally well-known players. Try to include players from different countries, eras and teams. You don't need to include the best 3rd liners as 3rd liners. Just the best, most exciting, legends team you can come up with.

I should mention there should be some staples on every list. Gretzky, Orr, Lemieux, Howe etc. No hating here.

Carey Price obviously has to be the goalie for this All-Time Legends team.

They totally messed up on that legends team. They got the first line right, Lemieux - Gretzky - Howe. Then they have a bunch of current players such as the Sedin's, Stamkos, Mike Richards...? How the heck is that a legends team. I don't understand why Roenick is in there either. They have Roy as the starting goalie, then Luongo as the backup??? Why not Hasek?! That's retarded. The rest of the forwards should have consisted of Forsberg, Lindros, Bure, Bossy, Trottier, Beliveau, Richard, Sakic, and Bobby Hull. I'm going to edit the team myself to make it right. I truly don't know what they were thinking when they made that "Legends" team. As for defenseman, take Salming and Chelios out, add Orr, Harvey, Potvin, Coffey, and Stevens, then leave Bourque. Would that all have been so hard to do?

the only thing i can think of is that they are trying to engage more of a younger audience who would know most of those players....to try and get younger kids into hockey???

idk im trying to give any reason for these actions

I wouldn't pick the best players, I'd try to build a team that would work together IMHO.

Ovechkin - Lemieux - Jagr
Lidstrom - Kelly

Hull - Gretzky - Howe
Orr - Bourque

Kharlamov - Petrov - Mikhailov
Harvey - Fetisov

Yzerman - Trottier - Bossy
Potvin - Chelios

Hasek
Roy
Plante

You'd be crazy not to have Lemieux and Gretzky on the same line. The best playmaker of all time with the best goal scorer. They absolutely destroyed the 1987 Canada cup playing together.

Hull - Gretzky - Lemieux
Richard - Béliveau - Howe
Esposito - Messier - Lafleur
Clarke - Trottier - Mikita
(Jagr, Bossy competing for Lafleur's spot)

Orr - Shore
Harvey - Bourque
Lidstrom - Potvin
(Robinson)

Hasek
Roy

Hull-Gretzky-Howe
-the best passer of all-time paired with arguably the best left-winger of all-time and Mr. Hockey himself... Pure domination.
Clarke-Lemieux-Richard
-arguably the greatest (when healthy) offensive player paired with arguably the best, most intense, player from the blueline-in (known as ''the Rocket'') and one of the greatest two-way offensive players of all-time.
Jagr-Beliveau-Lafleur
-the classiest hockey player playing alongside ''the Blond Demon'' and Jagr, all great players.
Kharlamov-Sakic-Bure
-The ''Russian Rocket'' playing with probably the greatest russian player ever and Joe Sakic, It'd be interesting to see how they'd gel and play together.
extras: Morenz, Yzerman and Trottier

Orr-Harvey
-best defenseman of all-time paired with arguably the best positionnal shutdown D-man ever (who's also great offensively).
Bourque-Potvin
-all-around defensive and offensive greatness with good physicality.
Lidstrom-Robinson
-same as the above, perhaps a tiny bit weaker overall though.
extras: Shore and Stevens

Hasek
-best goalie ever IMO.
Roy
-great goalie in the regular season, arguably the best, ''clutchiest'' goaltender of all-time when the playoffs came around.
