Who?

....I even said before the draft that Zibanejad could already be the better player of the 2 right now, Lando has just gotten more hype as he's been playing over here longer and ripped it up in Kitch

Talking about the draft what happened to pheonix? Did he switch to an islanders fan?

Yup, Sens already won the draft. Studies show that 95% of players who have success in their first rookie tournament go on to become superstars.

To be fair, I had said probably a month or so before the draft that "I wouldn't be surprised if Zibanejad > Landeskog" even at that time. One player was front and center in Kitchener..the other played half a season in the SEL. He was better than I expected in these past 3 games...trust me, I realize who he was playing against, and he did better than I had expected.

We'll see what happens
If they are aware that they think they are underating him, they aren't underating him.

Ok, if you think he's a superior prospect to Landeskog, thats a valid opinion. But the way it was worded implied that this opinion has only recently happened (and the chosen word already was a poor choice) ; since the draft, nothing should have happened to change opinions.

Landeskog is probably the most underhyped #2 overall pick i can remember, and his skills are certainly being downplayed in this thread. He's a better goalscorer than Mika, he has elite hockey sense and he's much closer to any meaningful NHL impact. It's very debatable if Mika actually does have more Offensive upside than Landeskog. I don't think he does.

Im a pitiful Florida fan, and i wanted Huberdeau going into the draft. The Larsson avatar was from the World Juniors. Not that it has any bearing on the conversation at hand.

Do people think Zibanejad is a better prospect than Landeskog?

He might end up the better player, but right now it really isn't close.

lol... Z is better now and will always be better. Lando is vastly overrated. Good player overall but he's pretty underwhelming in the key area of puck possession skills. He's only useful in the offensive zone if he's the last guy with the puck. Kinda like Mike Fisher, such a plumber.

I'm not a fan of this type of player. Especially not in the top 10 of a draft.

Z is a strong physical guy too but he can actually contribute to a puck possession style game. He can make and receive the high-level passes, he'll show up anywhere on the ice and he has a nasty shot.

There's no doubt in my mind that Landeskog is the better prospect. I think you're writing off Landeskog's skills a little too easy there, Immanuel.

While Landeskog might not carry his own top line ever, there's a bigger chance of him spending his entire career on one than Zibanejad. I do agree that if everything falls into place, Zibanejad will be the better producer, though, but I don't really think that Zibanejad's got a huge advantage in all the offensive areas.

Jv I'll use numbers here, the numbers aren't worth reading into either.

Consensus opinion on z: 7
My previous opinion on z: 8
My opinion on z now. : 9

I thought most underrated him, then I thought even I was underrating him. Now u think he matt be better than I previously thought

You focus one players strengths, the other players weakness(his puck skills are at least adequate for his age) and given that reason that player A is better than player B. What do you call that?

*hint* Think Simpsons.

The likelihood of someone spending time on an NHL 1st line is contingent on many things. The NHL does carry a bias towards more physical players, which is not immediately rational.

I mean yeah, Lando will be penciled in next to Duchene or Statsny and he's very likely to produce points... So what? You could say that about any winger taken in the first round. I think Colorado took a bad gamble on someone who's likely to be a puck possession liability.

This whole debate about who is better smells worse than dog **** left out in the broiling sun. Talk about sour grapes...

Not to long ago half these boards where felating Lando.

Toe-may-toe Toe-ma-toe ---

Both kids look to have a good NHL career built upon individual talents; they are two different players. I would have been just as happy to have Lando as Z. And I am very happy with the Z selection at the draft.

Ok. Zib is a riser who most likely will have a good NHL career, but he hasn't done enough overseas nor had shown the offensive ceiling to justify being rated ahead of Landeskog.

Funny you make the Fisher mention, because there are those who think that is Zib's offensive ceiling and not Landeskog.
