Jagr press conference? (update: content within post #30)

Umm, are the Flyers ever going to hold a press conference to introduce one of the greatest players in hockey history..... or is he just going to show up and play in preseason? The Flyers have press conferences every time Peter Luukko takes a crap and yet they haven't had one for Jagr yet. Bizarre.

I don't know if he's even been in the United States since he signed.

He was at a Memorial Service earlier in the week in Prague. Vets aren't required to be in Camp until tomorrow (Friday) for physicals and such. Saturday starts the workouts. My guess is tomorrow there will be interviews and meetings with the media.

I just figured they would have an official press conference where they introduce him and present him with his jersey. They've done it in past summers with Pronger, Forsberg, Roenick, Voracek, etc. I mean Jagr is a pretty big deal.

Maybe they are waiting for something big, a big lavish, Southbeach Superfriends type conference with Jagr saying how he has been eating his spinach and is ready to dominate like before.

Maybe he's their secret weapon they are waiting to unleash?

Jagr might not have wanted to fly all the way to the States just to be given a jersey and say "hi."

That may be the case with most players in general but Jagr is different. He is a very candid person, he's a funny guy, he never talks in cliches and he gives great quotes. I think it would be interesting to see what he has to say.

Not to mention that he's a legend and played many years for a division rival. This is not some random player.

True, but the truth is he's not (or at least has not been) in the US yet. I think the conference-seekers will get their wish. They just have to wait for it.

Some of you make it sound like he's the second coming of Christ or something. Why would he come all the way over here just to have a presser and then go back?

Thanks. Might have to change it though as that was the first time I saw Holmgren in a while, and he looks okay too.

That whole thing with Joe Mullen was funny. Too bad he didn't keep the mullet.

I grew up hating him and when they announced the signing this offseaon I was upset but as time passed I'll admit that I'm actually really excited he's on the team. Seeing him put on the jersey though was so weird.
