I just got an email, my number came up in the ticket draw! Woot woot.

Quote:
Congratulations!

As a member of the Winnipeg Jets Season Ticket Wait List, you have been selected through a random draw to have access to purchase tickets to the following Winnipeg Jets Home Exhibition Games:

Tuesday September 20th, 2011 vs. the Columbus Blue Jackets @ 7:30PM
Wednesday September 28th, 2011 vs. the Carolina Hurricanes @ 7:30PM
Friday September 30th, 2011 vs. the Nashville Predators @ 7:30PM

Tickets for each game will be subject to availability. Due to limited ticket inventory some games may only have single tickets available for purchase. Ticket prices will be announced at a press conference scheduled for 2:00PM on Friday, September 16th.
On one hand I'm friggin pumped. On the other hand, I think it's pretty unlikely that I'll win any type of draws for any regular season games if they do that. But I'll take what I can get!

I never got any emails stating that they were doing this draw.

I was selected for wait list preseason tickets as well. I don't really need more preseason tickets as I am already a season ticket holder.

I am a STH and entered the draw through my ticketing account but did not get selected to buy more tickets. Just as well my bank account is dry.

I think we all already know what the prices for the pre-season games are. My P2's are $142.50 and the P3's $117.50.

That answers it... I was going to ask if you could be on both.

I got the email too, had to google it to make sure it wasn't a scam as it came from Winnipeg Jets, not True North.

Pretty psyched! Didn't make the STH list so I'll take what I can get!

Sadly no email for me. Not all that disappointed since pre-season games can be had for close to face value on stub hub

From the sounds of it it is random draw from the whole 8,000 person pool.

Did everyone who is on the waiting list receive the email stating the details of the lottery?

I received the email and didn't win either. And to clarify the wait list doesn't contain 8000 people but is for 8000 seats. Single people can have upto 4 seats on the wait list.

The total number of customers on the wait list is 3479 (per True Norths initial email)

This draw allowed "winners" to purchase upto 2 tickets regardless of how many they are waiting for. so assuming roughly 500 tickets available per game, thats 1500 total. By two per person, thats 750. So chances of getting your name drawn roughly: 750/3479

So chances of about 1 in 4.5

Not quite the right odds... as season ticket holders are included in the draw as well. I thought one of the season ticket holders even posted that they were drawn (received email saying they were selected).

Regardless, it's a great way to allow waiting list people to get a shot at some tickets. But what about walkup tickets? I guess in this day and age with the internet (and the fact that there are about 1000 tickets per game available), walkups are pretty much extinct?

Waiting List

I am #61 on the waiting list and actually thought I had a really good chance a few months back when they said they had about 350 cancellations. I have pretty much given up on any chance of getting tickets now that we so far along. Has anyone heard anything positive? I.E that there still may be a waiting list drive?

i think you misunderstood. The poster was a season ticket holder in addition to being on the waiting list. I'm pretty sure the draw was excusive to the waiting list. The email sent out by True North said as much

Hmm... interesting... on my profile page (I am a STH but not on the waiting list) it had a check box filled in the lottery option. I didn't check it, it was already filled in. Perhaps this was setup in error or wasn't meant to be for STH's?

Either way, the lottery is an interesting idea and it is great for people who paid to be on the waiting list.

A lot of teams and sports do this. In England with the Premier League tickets, games against the "premier" opponents cost more. I believe many NHL teams do the same.
