Yes, but this year, the coach taking over his position (his name leaves me ATM) was coaching. If this is what the Texas Stars have to look forward to, ouch...

What year was it that the Stars won the whole tournament? I kept seeing the banner, but I never saw the year.

Ray Sawada's foot was in the crease, though.

The defense sucked and other teams shut down the Glennie line. That's what happened.

Jeff Pyle is the head coach of the Texas Stars now, and he's the one who was running this thing. I know not to read too much into tourneys with a bunch of 18-20 year olds who got only 1 short practice together. But I hope this isn't a bad sign for the baby Stars this year.

Here's the boxscore of the entire tourney.

Oleksiak and Theirau end up +3 and +4 despite a team total -6. Crombeen a whopping -5. Dillon ends with 2 points in 4 games but -1.

Pretty impressed by Ritchie.

Glennie's not so impressive, especially considering he could have (should have) dominated this.

After seeing Glennie in the tourney and seeing him for a little last season in the AHL. I'm pretty damn confident he'll be a bust. There's not a chance in hell he will ever be a first line center in the NHL, which is why he was drafted.

I am not high Glennie, but 10 AHL games and the Traverse City tourney to decide? That, IMO, is way too small of a sample to declare a bust. From what I saw, he definitely has the skill. The drive is what he needs. If we can light a fire under him then he has the potential to be a very good player.

Problem with that is... There aren't good players here in Austin for him to play with that will compliment his talent. Thus lowering his confidence. He shys away from hits and bigger players, he doesn't look up before he passes, and quite honestly he doesn't skate well at all.

Theres not a chance in hell he lives up to the reason he was drafted.

he doesnt skate well at all? Its clear you saw him in a bad stretch if you think he doesn't skate well. He's got jets.

Out of curiosity, did people say the same kind of things about Loui when he took his full 5 years to develop fully?

There were absolutely a lot of people read to give up on Eriksson as nothing more than a soft 3rd liner who could chip in a few goals.

You can't call him a bust yet. He's still got lots of talent.

I don't consider him a bust just yet. Just definitely not worth an 8th overall pick.

Hopefully he proves me wrong though.

Maybe not 8th but still top 15, imo and I am far from sold on some of the guys who were drafted after him that are generally considered to be better players. In fact, there are 6 guys from that draft I am pretty darn confident will have better careers than Glennie. Those 6 guys were all taken ahead of him and all have incredible talent. There are 5 or 6 other guys who I feel have a good chance to be better than he does but more than likely their impact will be on par with him.

heres a link to the 2009 draft http://hockeydb.com/ihdb/draft/nhl2009e.html I urge anyone who wants to call Glennie a bust to check out the list and count up the number of players taken after him that theyd definitely take ahead of him given a redraft. For me, its 4 guys. Kulikov, Cowen, MSP, and Rundblad
