That's why I like PA, if I am going to listen to sports talk, I want them to talk about sports. Half the time Barreiro is talking politics. Common is just a bad comedy hour to me. PA, yes he's a homer and over the top, but he has really good guests.

The only good thing on 1500 is Soucheray, and he's not sports related. IMO, he could go to WCCO, who already has Mischke. Those two are as much MN radio as Garrison Keiller was.

Barrerio is KFAN's version of Reusse in terms of tempering expectations but IMO he's much more intelligent than Reusse.
It's pretty much a mix of guys who were on in the old political format (Reusse, Soucheray) and sports guys poached from KFAN (Mackey, Zulgad, Joe Anderson).

"Whoever thought you could get a live body for James Sheppard?" Ha. I loved how as soon as his name came up he scoffed/chuckled.

2 Minutes In - the time it took for Russo to mention the Florida Panthers on his stint on PA's show.

9 Minutes In - the time it took for PA to mention some sort of Vikings allusion while Russo was in studio.

Clearchannel still owns it and would never do their competition such a favor as giving them such a popular dial position due to KFAN's previous location.

Only 9 minutes? That's a start.

Interesting that Russo compared Granlund to Parise.

1500 is doing themselves a disservice by not ramping up the megahertz. I swear to god that is the weakest signal in town.

Mileski and Falness had Heatley on a half hour ago although there really wasn't much to take away from it. If anything, the interview felt like one of those bad PONDcasts which end up being shallow and try to promote the Wild.

Agree with this, but they've had him on a couple of times already, there's not really much else he can say especially when they are like Mikko likes to distribute the puck. It's like we all know that, I'm sure Heater does too.

The whole program has been good so far actually mostly focused on Wild. I'm looking forward to the Russo appearance myself. The Butch interview was a little odd too, but this is the new flagship, so of course they would want to promote the Wild. Either way, I liked all of the talk, and the things to look out for. Obviously they talked about the d-corps, which was an interesting topic when they talked about Scandella. Going to be interesting what happens there.

Just had Yeo on. I'll give KFAN credit for asking him about the social media policy as that was interesting.

Russo is up next.

It was good. Russo needs his own show...

He really does for the simple fact that Russo can ask and answer interesting questions.

not sure if this is the right place to post this, but did anyone else listen to russo on Kfan around ~4:30ish? Probably the most negative i have ever heard him, he sounded almost depressed about the state of the wild.

I didn't hear it.

Do you remember what he said? Or any specifics or anything?

Moved it over here and stickied the thread since it keeps getting lost. Not surprised Russo sounds negative after his last couple articles but still...

It was mainly centered around our inability to break the puck out and inablility to sustain offensive pressure for any amount of time (good combo, eh?).

Really it comes down to whether or not the wild have the horses to play the way they want/need to play in order to win the game. Russo mainly talked about what we all know and fear; Defense/team speed.

He also talked about building the team around koivu and how the wild are gonna be in a heap of trouble if he doesn't find a way to produce. This the big leagues, you get paid to put points on the board, not to play defense.

Russo is on KFAN right now.

EDIT: Nothing big. Basically stated the obvious that there are plenty of question marks.

Russo's on fire so far with Paul Allen/Charchian.

The jist so far is that he thinks the Wild should re-sign Harding for three years towards the end of the season with the understanding that he splits with Backs next season and then becomes full-time starter when Backs moves on.

He also said Wild management weren't too thrilled with his glowing piece on Brodziak...

Annnnd he just said Scandella will be better than Burns. Now he went too far...
